Default Care about Economy? Vote McCain: Here's Why.

Reuters - The U.S. stock market would fare better in the first year after a victory by Republican presidential candidate John McCain than by his Democratic rival Barack Obama, according to a majority of economists at U.S. banks and research groups

I care more about the country than I do about the stock market.

Would an Obama victory be better for the bond market?

Of course if you look at the track record for economists' predictions...

One of the first things you learn in Economics 101 is that economists re usually wrong.
I'm going to need more than a list of predictions.

One thing I can be assured of... If McCain is elected, the SCOTUS will go far right within a couple years. Obama would keep the current balance.
That doesn't require a degree of any kind... just a good look at the makeup of the SCOTUS, which justices will be retiring, and what types of justices the candidates have promised to put in.

Note, however, that the market tends to do better under a Dem President than a Pub President. Been that way for about a century. I've posted the numbers on here countless times. I offer no explanation. But it's a stone cold, undeniable fact.

Couldn't help but notice that you didn't quote the last paragraph of the story. Here, let me help you.

A Reuters/Zogby poll released last week showed that just 10 percent of Americans gave the Bush administration positive marks for its handling of the economy.

The poll also found that Obama held a 7-point lead over McCain in the presidential race, and had a small edge on the question of who would best manage the economy.

I suppose the poll of economists would matter if they were the only ones voting.

Clue: They're not.

Most americans cant manage their own finances, so I could care less when it comes to who they think can manage the economy of the country. Thats like asking the general public for advice on brain surgery.

Well, there would be no way to know if they were right or wrong! But I suspect in terms of the first year they are right. Wall Street hates uncertainty more than anything, even bad news. Obama wants to raise taxes on distributions and capital gains. Everyting else being equal that will spook the markets early on. Once he does it, however, the impact will be far more muted than some think.

Yes, vote Republican, because after eight years of control they have the economy humming along so well.
