Default Not to mention the recent study publicized this week

by the AP on surveys of workers. 48% of workers opted for lower-paying jobs in the past 5 years to reduce stress on themselves and their families.

It couldn't be PERSONAL CHOICES, could it? Nah, it must be Bush. After all, he's responsible for all bad things...including Ivan's present course towards Florida.

Default Votes are based on Emotions not stats ..

Well Catz don't go to Vegas .... What I was pointing out was that Kerry and Bush can quibble over numbers but the average Joe will not view the strenght of the economy as the growth of GDP, real or un-real of whether a rise in GDP for two quarters is accompanied by falling or rising unemployment. Joe will decide the state of employment/unemployment on whether he, his brother, his friend and neighbors are working or not.

Average Joe does not see macro economics or micro-economics, he sees Joeconomics....... and that is how he will is likely to vote, that is unless some emotional issue trumps his economics.

Default Ahhhh

What I find absolutely hilarious, is the Republicans are trying to say the unemployment numbers are spun up...when they originally said that the unemployment rate was no fault of the administrations, but totally caused from 9/11.
So I've got to ask, why try and "un-spin" something your administration has no fault over?*

Default .

The facts show that unemployment is already low and going down. Every time Kerry says things like we're in another great depression, he loses credibility. In every election with a Republican incumbent that I can remember, the democrats have said, "this is the worst economy in 50 years." I'm fairly certain that the worst economy since the Depression would have been Carter's legacy. Double digit inflation. Double digit unemployment. Mile long gas lines. I don't think I've heard the term "misery index" since then.

Default God, those WERE awful years.

I worked for HUD shortly after the carter era as a secretary. It was unbelievable how many people lost their homes during that era as a result of double-digit interest rates.

Awful.

Default catz

I just want to tell you that you that I am praying for Florida. I live on the Gulf coast, too (other side). I know the nail-biting torture of waiting for a hurricane to make up it's mind. We were hit by Opal when we lived in Auburn, AL (far from the coast). A 67 year old pine tree on the house is nothing compared to what you guys are going through. I truly hope Ivan dies quickly and soon.
