This is actually is McCains best interest. The hypocrisy that would occur if he were to run as McCains vice would inevitable hinder his Presidential ambitions.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said Wednesday he will not run for vice president on the Republican ticket, adding himself to a growing number of those pulling themselves out of the race.
My thoughts go like this:

1. Bobby Jindal must have at least a little bit of a brain in his head. Good for Bobby.

2. Looks like Mr. McCain is having a bit of trouble finding another Republican that is willing to stand next to him. Big surprise.

Remember the threads when this was happening to Obama, and all the Obama opponents who said it was clearly a sign of Obama's status as a loser nobody wanted to touch?

I just want to ask.... is that analysis still true now that it applies to McCain?

of course not... some on this board carry a double-edged sword, except one of the edges is blunt

Nope, Romney has already said he would accept it. Most likely why the runners up are throwing in the towel.

That's very nice. Has Romney been asked? Nope.

Quote:
(CNN) -- A Republican source who attended a small private meeting with John McCain in New Hampshire told CNN that the GOP candidate dropped a serious hint about his potential running mate.

The source said that "out of the blue" McCain told the gathering Tuesday that he thinks they are "really going to like" Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

The GOP source noted that McCain also said nice things about former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, but those appeared to be standard lines he says about former rivals.

This source said McCain may have been talking about Pawlenty because the meeting was with New Hampshire GOP delegates, and the Republican convention is in Pawlenty's state.

But this source said McCain's praise was effusive, and noteworthy because it appeared to come "totally out of left field." --CNN

OR McCain has made up his mind already and has informed Jindal it won't be him. I think that is highly likely. I never really saw Jindal as the pick.

We don't know if Romney has been asked or not, as I said earlier McCain could have his mind made up but is waiting to reveal the choice for a later time. He probably wouldn't ask yet if he isn't read to make the choice public.
