Obama urges Europeans, Americans to defeat terror
AP - Cheered by an enormous international crowd, Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama on Thursday summoned Europeans and Americans together to "defeat terror and dry up the well of extremism that supports it" as surely as they conquered communism a generation ago.

And President Bush hasn't tried this? I don't see how Obama is going to wave his magic wand and make Germany send more "combat" troops to Afghanistan and Iraq.

I noticed the crowd in Germany went very quiet and started to drift away when Obama started to talk about how European nations should fight in Afghanistan - lets remember none of the mainland European NATO allies (other than I think Belgium) are prepared to commit troops to actual fighting....

I'm not a big Obama fan but this is a great thing to see. One thing for certain Obama will do well restoring America's best image overseas. God knows after President Codpiece I didn't think it possible.

by being a defeatist, socialist...yes, that is not the image I want restored. I don't care about Germany or most of the Central European countries. If they are unwilling to cooperate, we shouldn't pander to them.

Of course everyone loves receiving and hearing goodies....

Obama doesn't have the courage to tell them that they need to commit troops now. That America is doing more than enough, and that Germany, as the strongest EU state needs to step the (*)(*)(*)(*) up.

Australia and I believe Norway do some special ops stuff.

Do you watch the speech he was cheered a lot but not when he was talking about terrorism, the crowd went nuts when he mentioned global warming.

You must realize the image that Europeans want of America is not an American image but a European image. Basically big government socialism.
