Atleast McCain admits when he changes his mind and the changed his mind. Obama can't do it b/c it is just for political convinence. I wonder if he would be doing this if he wasn't dropping in the polls? |

My second comment- "...Obama has spoken against offshore drilling, but last week he said he would be willing to compromise if it were part of a more overarching strategy to lower energy costs...." http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/...iref=hpmostpop I am in agreement with Obama on this because he is willing to Compromise to get things done. It would be nice if more people did.

I called this weeks ago! Of course Obama will use offshore drilling as a bargaining chip. He's said from day one that the way he does business is by reaching across the aisle and working out compromises.
If he can get comprehensive conservation and alternative energy initiatives in exchange for some offshore drilling rights - the American people will be the winners. It's been so long since we've seen it so I'm not surprised that you don't recognize it - but that's called leadership. |

One day he's against using the strategic reserves, the next day he's for it.

I'm still a bit flabbergasted by the inability of a lot of people to understand the very simple difference between changing one's mind on an issue and giving concessions on an issue to make progress elsewhere.
Note that Obama will concede to "limited" off-shore drilling. If he changed his mind about it, why would he bother to say "limited"?
