Default What the polls really show

First - don't bother, Googles spell checker is down an I'm just too lazy to care.

Now...
I was accosted by a pollster outside a Sears at a local mall.
I had some time to kill and was in a foul mood anyway (Sears - whew!) so I gave up some time to sc*ew around with this guy. The poll was about the upcomming election and several questions in he asked if I was voting for McCain or Obama. Being a staunch conservative and republican I of course answered, "Obama". Why would I *lie* to this freak?

1. I was bored and felt like f'ing around with somebody.
2. Pollsters are boorish out of work political scientists or sociologists.
3. Scew the results.
4. All of the above.

The answer is 4.

So that's what the polls really show; how many bored conservatives like to sc*ew around with out of work political scientists or sociologists and scew the results of their useless polls.

Now you know - and knowing is half the battle!

I don't think it was a fluke that the exit polls in 2004 showed Kerry winning and of course the truth of the election did not bear this data out.

I really do suspect that conservatives are far more likely to keep their votes to themselves and not share it with some stranger. I am not sure how many political scientist appear truly unbiased, but I have rarely come across a sociologist who appeared anything, but extremely liberal. At least that has been my experience.

I view my vote as a private matter. I was taught that religion and politics are not a subject for polite discourse and are often best being kept to oneself. On the other hand, I find liberals are often more then happy to share their political beliefs to anyone who will listen. Perhaps this is not always the case, but it might be the case enough of the time to make a difference in the polling data.

Maybe we can get a prominent Conservative to reprise a kind of Operation Chaos in which we all lie about our votes to pollsters to mess with polling data. I think that would be hysterical especially if the conservative voice is likely to be under-reported anyway.

What do you mean to infer by alleged "conservatives." I think it is rather presumptuous to tell somebody that you can define their beliefs better than they can. Furthermore, there is some evidence which might suggest that conservatives tend to be under-represented in polling data. As far as I am concerned, messing with a pollster is an admirable way to protest the drowning out of the conservative voice. The notion of protest ought to be a concept a liberal should understand.

I guess many republicans also act like little 10 year old brats.

I don't want to try to debate his beliefs, just his sanity.
