Fear-and-Loathing unlike you is an objective left leaning(Moderate Left or Centrist) person whose not a mimic of Huffington Post talking points.

Be like you against Raytri or Java(actual liberals)...... There is no real competition and you might as well throw in the towel now.

Im pretty sure that id lean toward obama in the economic situation. mccain admits he knows nothing about the economy, which, frankly, scares me, given our terrible economy today. I dont think either of the candidates have a sure plan to fix the economy, but for starters, Obama atleast has a responsible iraq plan and a major part of his campaign consists of helping the middle and lower class that are suffering. Those two factors within itself can already help. Another thing that i thought interesting was the net worth of obama and mccain. If mccain is goin to "wing it" and try to save the economy, id much rather obama try it. Mccain is worth some millions of dollars, as where obama is worth somethin around 700k. i dont mean to sound like im using hate tactics or random facts to support my argument, but those networths just indicate that maybe Barack knows how hard it is for the average citizen. if Mccain wants to help people, maybe he can let some of the poor folk of our nation live in his many multimillion dollar houses.

if anything, this nation needs a man who presents "change." many republicans may say that that is rather vague and elusive, but im pretty sure any change from the way the economy is being handled right now should be considered.

While I thought Obama's speech on the whole was strong, I don't think it was to the point where one would dub the Republican convention merely ceremonial at all. In fact, this is as good a position as the Republicans could hope to be in.

While Obama DID unite his party this weekend and did a stellar job of it, I think there are glaring kinks in the armor that need to be addressed better heading forward. That speech was a DIRECT refutation of McCain's attack which means McCain's attacks are working and the Obama campaign is concerned.

I think the Republicans shopping list for the weekend would include the following three major points:

1.) Show Enthusiasm in John McCain-- I think it's no secret that the reason McCain hasn't really been able to get into a groove is because it's not so much a lack of support, but a lack of enthusiasm around his campaign. Republicans will vote for John McCain when push comes to shove, but they MUST create a buzz around him.

2.) Keep using the same attacks-- They're working well. Keep touching on Obama's lack of experience. Hit his record or lack thereof. McCain's biggest asset is his record of being a genuine indepependant voice in Washington. Obama's record doesn't support his rhetoric. Keep showing that. I would frame it as a vote for Obama is gambling your future. The Republican's best bet is to discredit Obama. Keep doing it.

3.) Show fresh, new faces-- I think the one thing that killed the Democrats in the late 90s and the early part of this decade is that it seemed like it was the same old, tired crowd were the ones making the same old, tired arguments. The Republicans have pretty much fallen into that in recent years while the Democrats are still making the same old, tired arguments, it's being done by new faces: Pelosi, Shumer, Obama, etc. There's been a difinative rejection of the Democrats of the past and while the Republicans shouldn't throw the old guard on the fire, now is the time to introduce new faces. Tim Pawlenty, Mitt Romney, Michaels Steele, Jodi Rell...people like that who can elequently outline the conservative agenda with a fresh twist. A lot of the energy in the Democratic party is a sense of fresh-ness. I'd really go for that for the Republicans. Dust off the dinosaurs to do the attacking to rile up the base, but when it comes to outlining policy, it's got to be a new cast of characters. Even if the Republicans lose this election, it at least gives them a motivating force heading forward, which is almost, at least for the party, as important.

I think if they can stick to that, they'll do well. But if the response to McCain is tepid, it's going to be a long, long, long three months for the GOP.
