Kerry made the biggest blunder of all, in the final minutes of the debate. When asked: Under what circumstances would you, senator Kerry commit troops or pre-emptive strikes over a threat to the United States. ONLY WHEN THE THREAT MET GLOBAL APPROVAL, was senator Kerry's answer.
President Bush, caught this statement in mid-air, & replied that he would never seek permission from a foreign country or another nation to protect American lives. |

I think Kerry won, and as most of the people on this board posses intelligence and reasons abilities, you'll probably agree regardless of whether or not you liked what he said. From a stricly objective standpoint, Kerry was clearly more articulate, and his answers were overall just better. He was good at balancing defense of himself with attacking Bush, whereas Bush couldn't do anything but say "FLIP FLOP".
Unfortunately, the average American is not a smart person. They like Bush because they could follow what he was saying, and he was more to-the-point. Kerry's answers were better, but also long-winded and difficult to follow at some parts. He missed some great opportunities to humanize himself with a joke / Reaganesque sound bite that he completely ignored in favor of droning on and on in his father time voice. However, I think he beat Bush logically on most points. There were a few, such as bi-lateral talks, where Bush triumphed. I also loved it how Bush was on the verge of tears when he was talking about the deaths of soldiers in Iraq.
