Default Lying Liars Who Lie

So, this is what it's come to.

The McCain campaign, as advised by Karl Rove, have decided to just drop all pretense at honor and truth, and just LIE.

When the lie is disproven, just keep LYING!

LIE, LIE, LIE and LIE AGAIN! And just hope the dumbasses you are targeting with your lies stay asleep, don't watch the news or read newspapers other than Fox, the Post or Limpball.

Just LIE, and when they correct you, LIE AGAIN! And when they show video that contradicts your lie beyond a shadow of a doubt, LIE AGAIN! And LIE! And LIE! And LIE!

Proof that Palin was in favor of the Bridge to Nowhere? LIE AGAIN!
Proof that Alaska was the biggest per capita earmark getter? LIE ABOUT IT!
Proof that Obama will NOT raise your taxes unless you make more than $250,000 a year? JUST (*)(*)(*)(*)ING LIE ABOUT IT!

LIE, LIE, LIE, LIE and LIE!!! And believe that the American voter is so out of touch that you'll GET AWAY WITH IT!!!

And if they catch on to you???

LIE!!!

“There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Alabama, because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Junior was born. So don’t tell me I don’t have a claim on Selma, Alabama.”

I think it's cute when people post quotes and don't identify the speaker or link to a source.

Russert: "When we talked back in November of '04 after your election, I said, 'There's been enormous speculation about your political future. Will you serve your six-year term as United States senator from Illinois?'"

Obama: "I will serve out my full six-year term. You know, Tim, if you get asked enough, sooner or later you get weary and you start looking for new ways of saying things. But my thinking has not changed."

Russert: "So you will not run for president or vice president in 2008?"

Obama: "I will not."

BTW: TPM is selling a "pigs and lipstick" t-shirt now.

And I remember when McCain said HE wasn't running.

This method - lie, lie and lie - worked for the GOP in the age before 24 hour news networks and the internet. It isn't working so well now that people can 'Google' up the info for themselves and now that news from abroad is so readily available.

Politicians once had quite a bit of control over the media - mostly newspapers and one hour of nightly news. Today there are media outlet that are international and they aren't nearly as easily intimidated as media outlets of the past.

Bloggers, while not the most reliable sources, have played a role as well. It is much, much harder to kill off a negative story today than it was in the past.

My take is that Rove and McCain just don't fully understand the real-time world they live in today and haven't adapted to it.

They understand it just fine! They know that stupid people will believe the lie and vote accordingly.
