Default Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia.

My sources say a statement may be coming this week that one of the two presidential candidates has been diagnosed with dementia. I believe this candidate should put the country first and cease his bid for higher office effective immediately. He should get the medical treatment he needs to deal with this terrible disease. To respect my sources' wishes, I am not naming who this person is.

But we already know who it is!!!! Maybe it is catching. If so, I hope Palin gets it. Maybe she will forget how many kids she has.

This person also used his position as a United States senator to help his wife abuse illegal drugs and avoid being searched when bringing illegally procured prescription drugs into the United States from foreign countries -- the senator procured her a diplomatic passport, which meant that her bags were not searched by customs. The person will conveniently forget this ever happened. Which is understandable, since this person has dementia.

He will be using dementia as his excuse next when the POW card does not work! He might even forget he was one!!!

We laugh now, but imagine someone with Alzheimer's with access to our nuclear codes!

I would not wish Alzheimer's disease on anyone or any family. I lost my mother last year in part to Alzheimer's disease. It is dreadful to watch someone you love's soul die so slowly while their body remains.

If McCain has indeed been diagnosed with dementia, perhaps both he and his ill-advised pick for VP can be replaced with a pair of solid candidates that will give the conservatives a real voice in November.

Rightisright88, any news on what the GOP plans to do after this announcement? Have they picked a successor? It is pretty obvious that Palin can't be the candidate (heck, she isn't even qualified to be VP from the looks of things) so any idea who they plan to run in November or who McCain says he will allow to take his place (it is likely too late get McCain's name off the ballot in many states)?

No such luck. Dementia affects short term memory loss.

We'll be hearing an increased number of stories about his POW days in the coming weeks as he slowly forgets why he's up on the stage speaking with a strange looking woman standing beside him.
