Thumbs down Dear Fellow Republicans. I don't agree with Palin on one issue.

War is wrong. Doesn't matter what Party you support. Palin speaks of going to war with Russia. WTF? she wants to go to war with the most dangerous nation in the world? that's just insane, but then it makes very much sense. McCain wants to fight the international waters battle over who gets to drill up in Alaska ocean territory. Obviously, that's why he choose Palin, she's from Alaska and he needs her to get the oil refineries and drilling up there. Now the Russians won't like this. So, already Palin is telling us that we are going to War with a Nuclear nation and AGAIN fighting over oil, just like we did in Iraq. Same old war over black blood? I mean come on.

I'm now stuck between two parties, I could care less about gas prices. Now, I understand McCain is trying to help the people here by lowering gas prices and such. And he's willing to steal it from Russia. But I drive a very fuel efficient car, Sonata and I don't think I can vote for a party that want's to go to war with Russia. It aint the cold war anymore and if it was, we could be under Nuclear threat again and I don't want that. Do you? discuss.

Jedimiller.

Part of the Bush Doctrine that Gibson didn't apparently know about is the doctrine of promotion of democratic nations around the world. Both the former Eastern Block countries and former Soviet Republics have quickly addapted to democratic reforms and economies. Many are anxious to join with Western European nations especially militarily. They had to live under the thumb of the Russians for the better part of 70 years and are fearful of Russian's faultering government reforms and increased beligerence and militarism.

This is exactly what our duty is to those nations as it should be for not only us but every democratic nation and especially our NATO Allies. Being united against the Russians will force them to back down. She isn't looking foward to war, but to peace through strength and unity. The Russian need to get out of Georgia.

Well said Patriot, you seem to have a very good grasp of current events. I'm sort of young to this, i'm only 36. But I really doubt that this has anything to do with Georgia, the russians have kept their promise and moved out all their troops from there. it's their war, let them kill themselves if they should. I think there's more to Palin wanting to go to war with Russia, it's more of an international waters issue, as she is neighboor to russia there in Alaska and probably has a lifelong bitterness about them. I just think that Palin wants to go after russia with no permission from NATO or anyone else, just like Bush did before. Alaska belonged to russia and they would act upon it if they knew Palin was starting plans. I mean she's already publicly saying that she wants to go to war with them. I don't know about you, but a war with Russia seems like a very, very terrible and Horrid idea right now. And not that I don't trust on our American troops, but I see us loosing that war like we have in Iraq.

I don't think you are going to make it as a conservative for long, they are always going to make republican sound bytes sound horrible.

Palin stated that if Georgia was a member of NATO we would be obligated to defend Georgia as a member of NATO. If Russia attacked a NATO country, we wouldn't be going to war with Russia, Russia would be going to war with NATO. We are part of NATO. Her stance on this issue is no different from McCain's or Obama's for that matter. If Russia attacked NATO, yes we would go to war as a member of NATO not alone. This is why we have been pushing for Georgia to become a member of NATO and why Russia has resisted. If Georgia was a member of NATO, they would be untouchable.

Also we aren't going to steal oil from Russia. However, we are looking at increased cooperation between Venezuela, Russia, and Iran. It was clear that Russia invaded Georgia to take control of a major oil pipeline. Russia's increasing grasp of world oil is a threat.

Becoming energy independent is not only an economic issue, but a mater of national security.

Well, i'm new to the Republican party, but I'm already seeing the same ol' same mistakes being prepared. It's all about oil, energy and like you said an economic issue. So how do you suggest it's all about National Security? I don't see it, going after Iraq, Iran, Venezuela, Russia over oil trade routes and barrels is not a matter of economics. And like I said, I drive a fuel efficient vehicle and you should stop making up excuses for it, stop driving an SUV. Why are we so dependent in oil that we have to lie to everyone by making stuff up? if Russia again goes after Georgia or there is more intolerance/conflict..Let NATO handle the issue, but for a candidate like Palin to be making up her mind already, just screams red warning in my mind. Hope you understand.

I have to agree with jhffmn here. We don't want a war with Russia at all, and that is what she is saying. The way to avoid war, is to be prepared to go to war. Sort of like Teddy Roosevelt's, "I may speak softly, but I carry a BIG STICK". Her position is not different that Obama's or Biden's, (Although, it took Obama a week to figure out his position on the issue as his first couple of positions turned out to be laughable).

The pressure brought against the Russian's especially economically will force them to back down. They are just making a political statement to Washington and that is, we are still here and we are still a great power, and we are to be feared.

It's kind of like Bush said: "I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we're really talking about peace." It certainly makes Orwell sound prophetic.

But I'm certainly in agreement here. It's one thing to trash talk a bunch of gimpy little tinpot dictators with 30-year-old military hardware. It's quite another to trash talk a country with ten thousand thermonuclear warheads, most of them with our address dialed into the destination, and missile technology that's as good as anything we have.

Well said, and I have always feared the Russians. just watch Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skulls. Oh Boy. The russians will not back down, and they have more than Nuclear missiles, they have advanced technology we don't know a thing about. Crystal technology. They have a secret military unknown to radar and invisible to the world. You have to remember that they have been doing this stuff for longer than we have, we are babies compared to them. A candidate like Palin threatening war with them, just seems illogical and silly. Palin should NOT be frucking with the russians right now. Not a good time. Trust me I don't want World War 3 started by my party.

Well, Jedi, if you are no sure which party to vote for, it may be best if you don't vote at all, unless you are certain of your vote.
I don't like war eithor and I think war with Russia is nuts, and there is no reason for it.
