Default What will "Black Sunday" do to the campaign?

What's your take? Will this make the issues more important?

I think it brings McCain's poorer and less-popular economic plan into sharp focus.

As big of a supporter as I am for Obama, his economic plan still raises the deficit. Neither plan works.

I am wondering if this will allow the candidates the excuse to "tweak" their plans so that they actually could work. I'd like to see that.

It will bring Obama's campaign contributions from the companies that are failing into sharp focus as the Beltway insider he is.

In fairness, even Bill Clinton wasn't able to to go zero deficit in the first few years. Given the enormous amount of loan interest now (thanks to GWB's borrow and spend policies), I doubt any candidate can go zero deficit in the next decade no matter how frugal.

It will take probably 2-4 terms to turn around from contributing to the national debt. I also expect 2 terms to turn around the deficit.

Obama's plan spends far more on things Americans need while contributing 30% LESS to the national debt. Somehow, McCain's plan somehow manages to flow way over $1 trillion more onto the national debt AND he spends less on many things needed. Talk about a lousy economic plan. This is part of why Obama's plan remains more popular than McCain's.

It depends on if it comes to light that the lending practices responsible for this crisis were caused in part by government pressure to provide loans to low income minorities, especially illegal aliens. That will ultimately hurt Obama.

Keep dreaming the media will never report on that no matter how true it is.

I think once the American populace realizes how much the liberal end of our political system have stolen from Fannie & Freddie the vote will turn toward the Maverick. How many people who once worked for these failed organizations now work for Obama?

There was government pressure to provide loans to low income people in general. Not only minorities. It was done so that more people could buy houses and ultimately, a great housing market creates a great economic forcast. It would have worked had people paid their mortgages. The fact that the government didn't forsee that these people weren't going to be ABLE to make those payments just shows how completely out of touch with the American people the government really was.

That hurts McCain.
