I really don't know how anybody voted for him the first time. Seemed dumb as a doorknob from day one. Never expected much from him. But according to the GOP, if you're intelligent and educated, that makes you a "liberal elitist".

"If you voted for Bush twice, maybe you should sit this one out"
I second that, because by voting for him the second time, when his abilities and recklessness had been clearly demonstrated, you have shown yourself to be incapable of breaching partisan politics and seeing the big picture. I see you shaking your head in continued denial, so let me explain why I say that. By the time you voted for him a second time, he had already: • Recklessly borrowed money to finance the Iraq war without any idea how he was going to pay it pack. If he thought he was going to do it by securing a large chunk of Iraq’s oil revenues then he lied when he said the war was “not about oil” In either case he had shown himself to be thoroughly irresponsible. You seem to like that in a president. • He had already lost respect for the US in the eyes of most of the world. Since well before his 2nd election, Canadians were travelling with prominent red maple leaves on their clothing to avoid being mistaken for “bloody Yanks”. The world had already laughed at the Freedom Fries and seen that administrations in Germany, Russia and France had been able to see the truth about Iraq, and their peoples had also seen it, whereas we voted the runaway disaster into power for a second term. You seem to enjoy being viewed as a hayseed by the rest of the world. • He had already shown absolutely no respect for good fiscal policies and gave his rich buddies tax breaks while the rest of us saw almost none of the benefits. In times where the financial writing was on the wall, you seem to enjoy being responsible for a regime that thinks more of its buddies than of you. • While he was cutting revenues he was increasing the interest that burdened us tax payers from his reckless borrowings. You seem to like giving Dubya your hard-earned wages. • He had already massively misjudged the enormity of the Iraq task, having bought into the idea that a small force and loving Iraq people would secure his invasion. It was so pathetic that the rest of the world didn’t know which aspect to laugh at anymore. You seem to like voting for a proven incompetent. • He had already paved the way for speculation on future oil prices with his reckless policies in the Middle East. We are not paying the prices, doubly. You seem to like thge thought of driving tiny Japanese cars. • In fact he might have already dealt the death blow to the dollar at that stage. You seem to like the idea of a laughable greenback. And knowing all of this, because it was in the news every day, you showed the most appalling appreciation and judgement of negative trends, financial recklessness, foreign policy ineptness, and buddy-favoring, by voting him in for a second term. And his pal, McCain, was at his side all the way during this series of debacles. And now you want to vote HIM into a 4 year tenure, repeating once again your mistake and showing yourself incapable of learning some VERY simple lessons. In a Democracy, the people get the government they deserve - Alexis de Tocqueville. The trouble is, I have to share your self-inflicted injury with you. The tragedy is that, one day, so will my granddaughter. |

Lets keep some facts in mind the election was not a landslide and secondly the democratic party had a weak candidate in John Kerry. Now based on the fact it was very close and the democrats did not have a strong candidate that means at lest half of Americans voted for Bush. So what you are really saying is half of your country's men and women are intellectually inferior, incompetent or both. I really do not know how you stand all the flagrant stupidity you have to endure, I feel sorry for you. The reality is a lot of us Voted for Bush and like it or not he was the better choice in that election. I will not bother stating John Kerry's track record for changing his mind and positions constantly. The Democratic candidate lost not because we all are blithering idiots being blindly led about by a pied piper but because people did not believe in John Kerry. I think Bush has done what he thought was best for this country. Personally would I have gone about it the same way, no I would not have. Could he have done a number of things better, yes. The last I checked our president is human and has a tough job to do and if you think he is going to please everyone all the time, your not thinking clearly. Bush went after all terrorists everywhere and the last I checked it was proved bin laden was not the mastermind behind 9/11 . This man has done everything with Americas best interests in mind I believe that and so do about 1/3 of our countrymen and women as of last month. Every president has his share of problems and please spare me his approval ratings. "During the month of August, 34% of American adults said they approved of the way that George W. Bush performed his job as president." From the Rasmussen poll. Other polls I found: ABCNews/Washington Post[1] 8/19-22/2008 30% 66% 4% American Research Group[2] 6/16-19/2008 25% 71% 4% Associated Press/Ipsos[3] 7/31 - 8/04/2008 31% 66% * CBSNews/New York Times[4] 7/31 - 8/05/2008 25% 66% 9% I think we can all agree those are not great numbers. Now lets look at our Democratic controlled congress approval rating. "Gallup is reporting that their latest Congressional Approval poll has resulted in the lowest approval rating for Congress ever recorded: 14%. PRINCETON, NJ -- Congress' job approval rating has dropped five percentage points over the past month, from 19% in June to 14% in July, making the current reading the lowest congressional job approval rating in the 34-year Gallup Poll history of asking the question. The previous low was 18%, last reached in May. Gallup goes on to point out that the latest drop is due almost entirely to Democrats feasting on their own (a habit that they seem to enjoy, and which the GOP can exploit). In a twist that's quite stunning, Republicans (at 19%) and Independents (at 14%) give higher approval ratings to Congress than do the Democrats' own party members (at 11%). It gets worse for this Democratic Congress. In the thirty four years that Gallup has been measuring Congressional Approval by the month, that number has dipped below 20% only six times. This Democrat-led Congress owns four of those occurrences (8/07, 5/08, 6/08, and this last month). The other two months that the approval rating dipped below 20% was in June 1979 and March 1992. Democrats controlled both the Senate and the House in those two months as well." I see a small trend here when the Democrats are in control, not a major trend but enough to make you think about it, assuming your mind is open. Did you vote for any democrats because if you did by your logic your a bigger fool then the people who voted for bush. We republicans seem to be enjoying an approval rating doubling your own. The point I am trying to make here no one is perfect when officials are elected in this country they do not become all knowing and super human there is no magic pill they swallow in January that grants them super powers. They do the best that they can for this country exactly what else is it you are wanting here? The country needs to stop finger pointing and do something productive. If Obama wins this election I wont complain or whine, it will mean he has the confidence of the PEOPLE. I get tired of anytime I see something in the media how it is almost always slanted to attack Bush and republicans. I served in Iraq and let me tell you first hand the surge did work and is working. Am I the only one who noticed when the war first began all you saw on the news was Victory after Victory in Iraq? Now suddenly for 4 years the majority of what your being shown by the media is failures. Let me guess you think our men and women in uniform have lost every battle? Let me assure you if we had those casualty numbers would be astronomically higher. If you want to know about that war ask a Veteran whats going on over there, ask them if the surge worked do some homework on your own and stop letting the media decide for you. People need to wake up and understand a battle is being fought here right now on American soil. Its a war of information and people will believe what they are told by the media. Our media has decided they should pick our next president, thats not hard to do when you control what gets reported. Wake up America! By God republicans are not your enemies Democrats, we are your brothers and sisters! "WE THE PEOPLE". Klipkap If you want us all to learn "very simple lessons" that means we should never vote for a democrat based on those numbers, your right thats not fair. Because people make mistakes and no one is perfect. Stop blathering on about how terrible Bush is, hes doing his job the best he can. Also with the lack luster numbers the democrats are showing right now I would not be throwing any stones while standing inside your glass house. Last edited by ChestyPuller; 09-16-2008 at 02:06 AM. |
