As I said, hardly anybody makes the claim "vote for Obama or you're a racist." That's all in your head.
Sebelius:
“Have any of you noticed that Barack Obama is part African-American?” Sebelius asked in response to a question about why the election is so close.

Cafferty:
“He [McCain] is Washington and very much apart of the George Bush legacy (false) and yet the polls are very close which doesn’t make a lot of sense unless it’s race.“

Both are clearly making the accusation that people are not voting for Obama because of his race. And there are racists out there, but to what extent that is the factor is just a guessing game. But it is simply ridiculous to assume someone is racist just because they are against Obama.

While I agree with their opinions of Obama, I do not agree with their tactics; that's the kind of crap the Left always pulls.

Which is obviously true: Some people are. They are not in any way suggesting that all or even most people are. They're simply noting it's one reason the race is closer than it might otherwise be.

See, you agree!!

And as I said and you have demonstrated, neither Sebelius nor Cafferty said that, and neither are the *vast* majority of people.

You miss the point. My agreement is only that it is a marginal issue. Racism won't make anything close to a 10 point swing that would be needed to make the race not so close. So they clearly are making claims of widespread racism against Obama. But mostly my point was to the liberal loons on this board that bring up racism charges when someone says something negative about Obama or questioning his ties to Wright or being a "Chicago thug politician".

I seriously doubt anyone thinks it's a 10-point factor. More like 2 or 3.

It certainly exists.
http://www.ajc.com/news/content/news...race_0513.html

And there has been polling done on it:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/...n3949396.shtml

42% of respondents had heard a racist remark in the last week.
34% of white voters said most people they know wouldn't vote for a black president.
6% said they would never vote for a black president.

Given that studies have shown some racism is unconscious (because in voting there's a certain "not like me" factor, and someone of a different race is by definition "not like me"), the combined effect could easily be several percentage points.

Um, no.

Then maybe you should have narrowed your focus a bit. Because what you wrote was a lot broader than that.

If its only 2 or 3 points, then Sebelius and Cafferty's responses are inadequate to answer the question posed. And I did not mention these two in my opening post. I just said liberals because it would be against the site TOS to call them out directly.
