Default Canadian Election: What MP are you sending to parliament?

Time for some more canadian election chatter! I was in the local diner and politics was a brewing for chit chat amongst the eaters. Gunna spread the love here too.

Even if I wanted to vote conservative and for harper, I cannot. The incumbent here is a wacko, and is not the centre-right person the new conservative party is trying to image itself as. She is a far right christian fundy, with a peanut for a brain, her name is Cheryl gallant.

She is from the reform/alliance days. She got her seat in the 2000 election running for the alliance party. Out of the 103 ridings, she was one of only two alliance MPs to be elected in ontario. (Tories got 0) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000_Ca...ts_by_province

Now, here is why she is crazy.

Quote:
She is largely viewed as one of the strongest social conservative in the House of Commons, and is a popular figure among the Christian Right, yet has occasionally drawn the ire of opponents. In 2002, she was accused of making anti-gay remarks to then Minister of Foreign Affairs Bill Graham, when during a heated exchange, she kept interrupting "Ask your boyfriend" or "How's your boyfriend". Graham is married and has two children with his wife Catherine Graham. Gallant later apologized for her remarks.[2]

During the 2004 election, a controversy erupted when Gallant compared abortion to the beheading of Iraq war hostage Nick Berg.[3] The Conservative Party then announced that she was suffering from laryngitis, and after this, she did not appear at some scheduled debates.

Gallant resurfaced in the spotlight on March 17, 2005, when she suggested that Christians were being persecuted by the Liberal Party in a flyer she sent to her constituents. Tory leader Stephen Harper, confronted with the news, said "I'll let Cheryl Gallant explain those remarks herself; I haven't seen them."
She is know for other problems too, such as the birthday card incident where she seems to have private information on people, which is illegal.

In addition, the conservatives party knows remarks made by the extreme members of their party tend to make it to the media to harm them nationally. In the previous election she and many many other MPs and candidates were told to keep a low profile, and coincidentally in the weeks before the election cheryl gallant fell ill with laryngitis! and she couldn't attend the debates! and she WON... BY A LANDSLIDE. I'm saying this to those canadians that are buying the new conservative image. if you're considering voting conservative please know there are many extreme right members of their party that you are enabling if you give them a majority. Remember, if it was up to harper in 2003 canada would be in iraq right now and members like cheryl gallant would have been cheer leading him all the way.

So my hands are tied, if i want her gone i have to vote for the liberal candidate. I don't know much about her, but chances are almost anyone else is better.

Who is your incumbent, and do they need to be booted out of parliament too?
