"Does that mean I can do everything that I've called for in this campaign right away? Probably not," he said. "I think we're going to have to phase it in."
The Illinois senator has proposed ambitious and expensive initiatives aimed at health care, education, infrastructure, alternative energy and other concerns. He didn't say what proposals might be delayed first, adding that tax revenues would play a role in any budget decisions.

Well, I certainly hope that Obama defers any spending increases until AFTER the $700 billion check the government is writing is cashed.
And I hope that McCain would do the same if elected.
We need to see major cuts in federal spending both at home and abroad to make up for this $700 billion. I would suggest ending our involvement in Iraq immediately and withdrawing all US military forces from overseas as one means of saving money. We can't afford Iraq anymore. I would also cut all foreign aid immediately. We can't afford to be giving away money we don't have. We need to slash any and all descretionary spending, period. I would even consider closing the national parks until we have money to spend on them again. This might be a good time to end the War on Drugs and the War on Terror and use that money for the bailout as well.
