A 3.2 Mile Gravel Road Should Not Cost That Much Money, Even In Alaska. The Highest Figures I Have Ever Heard In Alaska Are $7 Million A Mile, But Only With A River Crossing, And Only As An Absolute Worst Case Estimate. The Estimates I've Seen Are Usually Between $700,000 And $6 Million Per Mile Depending On Topography.

Now, Often In Alaska, Gravel Resources Are Limited. That Means Gravel May Have To Be Shipped In For The Road. However, Unless The Road Has Significant Topographic Challenges, Generally A Road Like This Would Cost No More Than $1 To $3 Million Per Mile. It Would Be Interesting To See Why It Cost So Much.

Was It Inflated? They Should Have Had At Least $15 Million Left Over To Hire Lobbyists To Get More Earmarks For Useless Projects."
7 X 3.2 = 22.4

Default CNN exposes Sarah Palin's $26 million pork barrel "Road To Nowhere"

Wow, maybe they can use this road for drag racing or something. But as CNN mentions, she has now backed off from saying that she said no thanks to the bridge to nowhere. But why didn't she stop construction to this road? She has a lot of questions to answer, but I guess they will never be answered since she is kept secluded.

So you're taking the "river crossing, worst-case estimate" and using that as a defense of the project?

And you still come up short!

There will be a bridge some day. Just not the 400 million dollar boondoggle young came up with. Its a major tourist town servicing over a million tourists a year and a major deep-sea port for the state of Alaska. Its airport needs bridge. Just not the type Young came up with.
