Default McCain, Palin continue to hide from the media

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the...arly_40_d.html

Quote:
As of this writing, it has been 39 days and 22 hours since Sen. John McCain last held a news conference (despite having promised to hold weekly Q&A sessions with the press if he's elected). According to the Democrats, it's been 24 days and 11 hours since his running mate, Sarah Palin, held one.
This has gotten so ridiculous, the Democrats have set up a website keeping count:
http://www.democrats.org/page/content/ConfClock/

Further, the campaign continues to go to extraordinary lengths to prevent the possibility of unscripted questions:
http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/09...y4470968.shtml

Quote:
Last night, the campaign provided locations for Palin’s scheduled meetings with two world leaders and Henry Kissinger to a network TV producer, who was assigned to provide editorial content on the meetings for the five television networks. The reporter was not going to be allowed to sit in on the private meetings but would be permitted to be on hand as still and video photographers took pictures at the beginning of each meeting.

But just a little more than an hour before Palin’s first meeting was set to begin, the pool producer was notified that he would not be allowed in to the photo spray. This means that the McCain/Palin campaign would get the benefit of free pictures of Palin’s meeting with world leaders without having to face the possibility that the candidate might have to answer a question from the media.

Television networks, including CBS News maintain a policy that if they are prevented from having an editorial presence at an event, they will not allow cameras to shoot it....

After the Cleveland event, a Palin staffer told CBS News that questions “weren’t allowed.”
I definitely think the ticket that is scared of the media is the one we can count on to stand up against the bad guys. "Pitbull" my fanny. Even McCain is hiding.

Yup. it is totally ridiculous. I can't believe even Republicans are putting up with this.

It is time for the news media to law down the law. Simple rule, no open press conference, no media coverage. I've seen Palin mutter the same old tired lines at numerous appearances and if I were the press I would show it once and then if she repeats herself, don't show it. The same should apply for any candidate.

On the daily elections shows the host could simply state, "We were denied a press conference so there is nothing to report on the candidate."

No press interviews, no news coverage.

McCain and Palin aren't hiding from real journalist at all for example Charlie Gibson but we are hiding from Obama's pundents in the media like the NYT who aren't seeking the truth at all but instead trying to put Obama into the White House.

I think that that would actually work in McCains favor. Not showing them sink their ship would mean that the majority of voters would just plain vote Republican like they and their parents did every single year. Honestly, my guess is that 80% of the US population of voters votes without conscience or reason anyway, and the campaign has just become entertainment for those of us who do follow it. Why even bother?

Um, they're pretty much hiding from everyone *except* Charlie. And they're not talking to Charlie anymore, either.

It's pathetic, lavell. Declaring the entire media industry biased and the enemy -- even Fox News, apparently -- is childish, weak and delusional.

What's stunning is that it's not just Palin -- McCain is hiding, too.
