Default Biden on the importance of knowing what you're talking about!

He says Roosevelt got on television to talk to people about the great depression. And this was after he explained how important it is that politicians know what they're talking about!

"Part of what a leader does is to instill confidence, is demonstrate that he or she knows what they’re talking about and communicates to people, “if you listen to me and follow what I’m suggesting, we can fix this.

When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on television and didn’t just talk about, you know, the princes of greed, he said “look, here’s what happened.”

BUT TV WASN'T INVENTED YET!!!!

Why did he say this? I mean, he couldn't have heard this anywhere. Did he just make it up assuming it was likely true?

Okay, and who now thinks this guy is better qualified to run this country than Palin?

Start listening to video at 1:45.

His first term as pres. was 1933. He was a governor in 29, but I'm not sure he really addressed the country about the depression in any real sense. Where did he come up with this? He wasn't asked about it, he volunteered it which makes it even weirder.

So when did they become prevalent enough for most households to have one? A president would not have made a television address before then!

Television usage was not widespread until after WWII. Before the war started, less than 8,000 sets were even manufactured. What is important is that Biden doesn't know what he is talking about because Roosevelt was not the pesident in 1929 and radio, not television, would have been the means to reach the American people.

With that said, the bigger gaffe is not Biden's moronic statements but that he said a leader instills confidence, when his running mate is by no ones imagination doing any such thing! Obama goes waltzing around instilling fear by saying it is the next depression. McCain has been the leader in Biden's eyes by trying to instill confidence.

"TV as we know it was invented by Philio T Farnsworth in 1928."

In April of 1939, Franklin D. Roosevelt became the first president of the United States to appear on television. The setting was the 1939 World's Fair in New York. The appearance was broadcast to a handful of TV sets in the New York area.

Added: Is this the best the right can come up with? It's hardly worth mentioning.

Thank you I did not know that. This heard somewhere in passing that it wasn't invented yet, but perhaps it was a reference to it not being in the vast majority of households yet. But why would Joe say what he said? It's obvious that TV's weren't in homes at that time, and FDR wasn't yet in office. Biden himself said that it's important that our leaders know what they are talking about. Why wouldn't he at least research this a little before getting it out?

Again, how can anyone thing this guy is more ready than Palin to take over the presidency?

It wouldn't have been that big a deal, had not Biden set the bar prior to the statement. He himself is telling you it's a big deal. Your argument is with him, not me.
