Default Palin has a secrecy fetish

Palin seems to have a strong aversion to openness going back to her days as Mayor. She has lots to hide.

Quote:
She's (Mayor Palin) also been criticized by the local semiweekly newspaper for a new policy requiring department heads to get the mayor's approval before talking to reporters. An editorial in The Frontiersman labelled it a ''gag order.''
Alaska Daily News

Quote:
Alaska's investigation into whether Gov. Sarah Palin abused her power, a potentially damaging distraction for John McCain's presidential campaign, ran into intensified resistance Tuesday when the attorney general said state employees would refuse to honor subpoenas in the case.
Alaska Daily News

Quote:
NEW YORK - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who has not held a press conference in nearly four weeks of campaigning, on Tuesday barred most pool reporters from her meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, the first foreign head of state she has ever met.
Alaska Daily News

Quote:
Of the two Alaska investigations into abuse-of-power allegations against Sarah Palin, the governor has chosen to cooperate with just one: the one that guarantees secrecy can last for years and which she could conceivably dismiss.

Then there's the email secrecy including using personal email accounts to avoid leaving a record that could be retrieved.

Quote:
Palin won't release the contents of those e-mails. Despite her claim that Alaska's government is open and transparent, they -- along with more than 1,000 other messages -- are shrouded behind an exemption in the state's open records law.

Even more e-mails -- the number unknown -- circulated between Palin and her inner circle on private e-mail accounts that aren't subject to the state's open records law.
