Finishing my post graduate work right and have actually worked on research projects.
The point of a graduate degree is working with faculty to actually add something new and interesting and peer reviewed to the field. Someone is going to have to explain what is so great about a MBA from Harvard, besides the fact it was earned at Harvard. Honestly I don't know much about the business people. I know I'll get hate for this, but how exactly is a degree in drinking, I mean business, anything special ^_^. This is kind of tongue in check though, my finance earned her undergrad in business management and I always give her a hard time. Whenever I have to do a power point I always ask her for help. I mean, thats what a business degree is right? Learning to do power point presentations? Last edited by jhffmn; 09-23-2008 at 09:04 PM. |

Care to entertain what your position is on liberal arts degrees such as history and philosophy? I think educational background is much less important that real life experience and accomplishment. Obama is barren on both of those fronts. So his promises and positions are pretty much meaningless to me, but... some of the stuff that I have heard I certainly do not like! Socialism run amuck

I had a friend earn a degree as a "event planer". I forget the actual name of the degree, it was just silly. Yeah, there is value in a history/philosophy degree. But real life experience is much important, and academia is just plain insane. I know I have met some professors that I wouldn't let run anything. I think the reason we hear so much about Obama's education background is because a lot of his voters are probably in school trying to convince themselves that their undergrad degree in political science or English means anything to anyone. (it doesn't, sorry to break that to anyone) Last edited by jhffmn; 09-23-2008 at 09:23 PM. |

Right so the subjects your degrees are in are important. The subjects your degrees aren't in, unimportant!! Got it!! That isn't the view of some one with a massive inferiority complex!!! No seriously it isn't!!! No seriously!! PS. Things like history, english, and philosophy offer a deeper understanding of the human experience. Science degrees give you absolutely nothing useful for actually living life!! You know why scientists have reputations as nerds? Because they suck at life. They are unable to interact with other people socially, they are only gifted in their field. That is why they say stuff like "only my degree is important" because they don't understand people, society, or the world we live in!!!

My best friend has a degree in international relations and finance from Princeton, and he is a conservative. He thinks George Bush is a moron. But the difference is, my friend is the son of immigrants who got into princeton on his own achievements. George bush got into Yale, because his dad was rich and was a legacy!!
