Default We support these candidates like we support sports teams

We stand by them. Disregard anything about them and just attack the opposing team. The opposing team may have qualities about them or may be better then the team they support yet they will continue to just say your team is a loser my team is going to win because of this this this.

Same thing happens on this forum except between obama and mccain.

the funny thing is, you guys spend your time posting threads and debating your guy. you donate time, money, etc. and what do you get in the end. when the team wins the championship you don't get anything.

when obama or mccain win what the hell do you expect to get?

your on the bottom of the totem pole. your nothing in the grand scheme of things.

just like the armchair quarterback who spend 10,000 a year going to the football games. you support the team, go to there games, and are disregarded at the end of the day.

same exact thing with elections.

Yeah. Pretty much.
Really it's an extension of the human tendencies toward group mentality. We actually are wired to have double standards for in-group and out-group relations. It takes a lot of will and a lot of attention to overcome this to the extent that we can... and this part of human psychology is a large part of why larger populations require ever more bureaucracy.

Not exactly.
People do tend to believe in the ideologies they identify with. The candidate sympathetic to them winning power is a net plus... though admittedly the direct effects are minimal.

So we have fun? Could be worse.

Not quite. It does determine to some extent the direction of the country. As far as I know, the NFL does not change its policies or procedures on the basis of who wins.

You get the same rewards from politics as you do from sports. Satisfaction. When your team wins the satisfaction comes from being on the victorious side, just as it is in politics.

Take the Red Sox for example. When they won the WS in 2004 was I given a ring or a championship paycheck... of course not. But that didn't retard my elation one bit. My team had finally won. We had won.

Thats pretty much how it goes in life. Everyone picks sides and then roots for their side against the bad guys on the other side of the field. No politics isn't any different. But that isn't going to stop me from rooting for my side... or "MY" Red Sox.

Well McCain is like the Team which always makes it to the Playoffs but always comes up short of winning it all, but we still think the team has one hurrah left.

Obama is like the number one pick in the Lottery, he is supposed to bring change to the Team make them believe again ans start winning, but could turn out to be an expensive gamble that never quiet works out.

Donovan McNabb(McCain) and Trent Dilfer(Obama).

thats the only thing that i forgot about, the satisfaction. the satisfaction that you picked the right team or player whatever to back.

in the end though these people could care less about you.

obamasuperstar donates, time, money to the obama camapign and won't get anything at the end of the day.

the hat does the same for the mccain campaign and wont get anything at the end of the day.

the candidates both got there money, and know that you can be used as a tool for them like sports teams. they got there money, thats all they care about at the end of the day.

For better or worse?
I think it can go either way... maybe both ways...

Dont stick me into the donate category there chief....lol. I aint ever given any political party a dime. I got better things to do with my money then give it to some candidate running for office.

PS: I know you were just using that as an example......lol. Some people here, might take it literally though. Ya never know....lol.
