Default Even usual suspects say "huh?" to McCain gambit

When the conservative blogosphere is unenthused, you gotta figure it was a bum move:

http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/2...-be-postponed/
http://www.stoptheaclu.com/archives/...-with-economy/

I think we're looking at another impulsive McCain act.

Yeah. It was a very very strange move indeed.

The Stoptheaclu site thought it was a strange but good move that would be poorly received by the liberal media. Why did you interpret that as 'unenthused?'

And raytri, if you read hotair enough, you would realize Allahpundit, is the pessimist on that site. He plays the devil's advocate over there.

I think it's brilliant. And face it, the headlines...."Obama Rejects McCain's Calls to Delay Debate" doesn't look so good. We're talking about a postponement here. Tonight the President will have a VERY, VERY SERIOUS talk with the American people about this economic crisis. Obama looks uncaring for wanting to go on with polticis as usual. And it's not like we don't already know these two men. What's delaying---at least until this very important piece of legislation gets passed.... a debate about foreign policy when the country is in an economic spiraling crisis going to hurt? Nothing.

I don't know. My first inclination is to suspect it's a good move if the conservo-bloggers think it's bad.

You mean to tell me Allahpundit is not a conservative? I would have never guessed.

He called it strange and said he didn't understand it. This is hardly unqualified praise.

On the other hand Obama looks as if he's able to stay independent from the rush to use taxpayers' money to bail out the Wall Street casino industry. He isn't easily stampeded and isn't a populist, those are good character traits for a president.

It's a cheap political stunt on McCain's part.

It has already backfired on him.
