Default Why voting for McCain could Ruin the County for 30+ years

The Supreme court is built on conflicts. Different viewpoints coming together in a respectful way to decide what rights and responsibilities we actually have. It is by far the most respected high court in the world. most recent decisions have been very close. George bush has appointed 2 Very conservative, very young (50ish) judges, and Ruthie Ginsburg is hanging on by a thread. A McCain presidency could mean 30+ years of a conservative court. I don't want a liberal court, i don't want a conservative court. I want an balanced court. Then, both sides of this polarized country will be represented, and maybe, just maybe, we can cancel out some bias, cuz lord knows we can never eliminate it.

thanks for reading, and please be respectful.

I don't put much stock in the idea of balance. I think that if you have a certain belief, fighting for the increased prevalence of that belief is the way to go.

The court is balanced basically as much as you could have it. Two Right Wingers, Two moderate Conservatives. One moderate. Four more liberals.

Funny thing is a poll showed that only 29% of Obama supporters believe the Supreme Court should decide cases based on the constitution while 82% for McCain supporters.

That's one of the only reasons to vote for McCain in my opinion.

When I first read the title I said "Oh boy another partisan hackery thread" but you make alot of good points. Balance has its own benefits and dificulties. An unbalanced court would disenfranchise a good 50% of the nation but a perfectly balanced court would get little done but that isn't always a bad thing.
