While our McCainiac friends continue to stumble and bumble through their weak and lame defenses of their idol, some sad facts remain.

Unemployment is at 7 percent, as high as it was in the days immediately following 9/11.

Housing sales have plunged to a 17 year low.

America needs CLEAR and CALM leadership. Not flailing grandstanding from someone who hasn't cast a vote since April and has the highest rate of "no show" in the Senate.

If you cannot grasp that this issue is from years and years of failed policies on both sides of the isle i really dont know what else to tell you. Stop trying to point the finger at one side of the isle and realize that this fallout is an issue that BOTH parties contributed too.

Since you don't like the source i gave you here is another one that may be more to your liking. Whether you want to admit it or not. The proof is in Black and White my friend.

REPORT: MCCAIN AIDE’S FIRM PAID BY FREDDIE MAC UNTIL LAST MONTH

The firm owned by John McCain’s campaign manager reportedly received a monthly fee of $15,000 by one of the two giant housing lenders taken over by the federal government this month.

The McCain campaign responded on Wednesday by calling the report “demonstrably false.”

In an article first posted on its Web site Tuesday, The New York Times reports unnamed sources saying Davis & Manafort was paid by Freddie Mac, and Davis himself received more than $30,000 a month directly for five years starting in 2000. Those payments came from both Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, the other housing entity now under government control because of the crisis in the financial markets.

The article said that even though Davis took a leave from the firm to join McCain’s campaign, as a partner he continues to share in the profits.

McCain Aide’s Firm Was Paid by Freddie Mac

One of the giant mortgage companies at the heart of the credit crisis paid $15,000 a month from the end of 2005 through last month to a firm owned by Senator John McCain’s campaign manager, according to two people with direct knowledge of the arrangement.

The disclosure undercuts a remark by Mr. McCain on Sunday night that the campaign manager, Rick Davis, had had no involvement with the company for the last several years.

Mr. Davis’s firm received the payments from the company, Freddie Mac, until it was taken over by the government this month along with Fannie Mae, the other big mortgage lender whose deteriorating finances helped precipitate the cascading problems on Wall Street, the two people said.

They said they did not recall Mr. Davis’s doing much substantive work for the company in return for the money, other than to speak to a political action committee of high-ranking employees in October 2006 on the approaching midterm Congressional elections. They said Mr. Davis’s firm, Davis Manafort, had been kept on the payroll because of his close ties to Mr. McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, who by 2006 was widely expected to run again for the White House.

Mr. Davis took a leave from Davis Manafort for the presidential campaign, but as an equity holder continues to benefit from its income. No one at Davis Manafort other than Mr. Davis was involved in efforts on Freddie Mac’s behalf, the people familiar with the arrangement said.

Shall I continue? Even Fox is reporting the exact same thing!

I grasp the issue just fine, it is you who is spinning it out of whack. You brought up the fact that McCain wasn't on the committee not me and when I point out to you who is in charge of the committee you want to change the subject. It is you who is pointing fingers. Don't get mad at me when your candidate bumbled and opportunity. McCain is doing the job he was elected and is being paid to do now, Obumble hasn't done his job since he was elected, unless you call campaigning for 18 months his elected job.

The job he was elected to do was being Senator from the State of Arizona... and since he is not on any financial committees, he will only be in the way.

I keep asking this question, and none of you will even TRY to answer it.

What is it, precisely, that you want McCain to do IN DC that he CAN'T do while campaigning?

Ahh, you mean the same Chris Dodd that has been working on this with both republicans and democrats to get to a resolve that would protect the American people as well as include the much needed oversight of the industry? Im not pointing fingers at all im point out facts to you. How long has McCain been on the campaign trail again? Wait about the same amount of time?

I see you didn't even bother to attempt to discredit the news sources i posted for you..Facts are extremely hard to ignore eh??

How about meet with other Senators, members of Congress, listen to his constituents. Obama has to be called by the President before he even puts in an appearance. Why not do the job you have already been elected to do! Maybe he hasn't been in the Senate long enough to realize what those duties entailed other than campaigning fot the highest office.

Does he have a telephone? A computer? A fax machine? A senate staff who can stay in constant touch with him?

Do senators actually TAKE calls from consituents?

Every OTHER Senator has all that. So does Obama. Obama is very MUCH in touch and involved with what's going on.

McCain hasn't cast a senate vote since April. And he STILL had time to speak to the Clinton Global Warming Initiative before "rushing" back to DC.

You're being lied to, Gran. And it seems like that's just FINE with you.

Right now, Obama and McCain HAVE a job they WEREN'T elected to do, and that's convince us why either of them should be president. Obama is calm, self-assured and acting like a leader. McCain is flying off the handle, flailing about, and acting like a bull in a china shop.

Yea Chris Dud who has been in charge of the committee for the last 2 years, he has been doing a bang up job hasn't he. I suppose that Fannie and Freddie paid him real well to reign them in and lets not forget about the sweetheart loan deal he got from Country Wide as well. The supposed facts that you are trying to point out have nothing to do with the discussion at hand unless of course you like to deflect or change the subject.

The problem with your points are this is what Obama has been doing, he's been on top of the situation while on the campaign trail (multi-tasking) while McCain fumbled around spouting "The fundamentals of the economy are strong". McCain slept on this one and now he wants us to believe he's been on top of it the entire time. I call Bull
