The bill did not get passed, would you prefer it had passed in its original form? Oh wait, you probably don't knwo what that is, call Alec, maybe he'll let you buy a clue.
*sigh* You are still trying to deflect the fact that McCain did nothing to move discussions forward. You are wasting my time.

Maybe that was Dodd's point of view, but Sen Shelby and congressional Dems had no idea about the bill specifics. Maybe some will be convinced by Paulson and Dodd, considering they were so honest about this problem to begin with, I'm not convinced

It was Obama.
Quote:
"What I've found, and I think it was confirmed today, is that when you inject presidential politics into delicate negotiations, it's not necessarily as helpful as it needs to be," Mr. Obama told reporters Thursday evening. "Just because there is a lot of glare of the spotlight, there's the potential for posturing or suspicions."

"When you're not worrying about who's getting credit, or who's getting blamed, then things tend to move forward a little more constructively," he said.
McCain showed up with a campaign adviser. Obama showed with a legislative adviser. The difference is clear.

gman, he did all of this under the radar. None of it was mentioned until McCain pulled his stunt. You see, he can do this stuff AND campaign at the same time - and he doesn't feel the need to publicize it for political advantage.

You are right, he is such a force that the whole thing fell apart.

You can keep that farce.

Meanwhile, neither of them are on the committee. Both of them can only do one thing, vote on the bill.

To me, this whole mess has opened my eyes to something I did not realize before - McCain doesn't know his arse from a hole in the ground - he is a buffoon.

His chicken-littlish announcement that the economic sky was falling and he was suspending his campaign to rush to Washington....... his attempt to take credit for organizing GWB's summit...... his going to the debate after he said he absolutely would not attend unless the financial crisis has been rectified..... There is no way that a man who behaved in this manner is fit to be in the White House.

Somebody might actually hear you.
