Arrow Independent U.S. presidential candidate banned from debates

What is the real reason for banning Ralph Nader, people?

From RT:

While millions of people around the world watched Barack Obama and fellow U.S. presidential candidate John McCain debate each other, another man running for the high office was ignored. Independent Ralph Nader is not allowed to debate McCain and Obama because officials say he doesn't qualify. However, Nader's influence on the tight election may be greater than he's being given credit for.

Ralph Nader is on the ballot in 45 states. In his fifth run for office Nader is polling roughly five percent nationwide. His move to cement a third party system can very well swing the election - each voter Nader gains is a vote McCain or Obama loose.
Slashing the military budget, clipping power of big corporations, and renewable energy – these are views that won't be heard during the televised presidential debates.
Nader is excluded from taking part.

Both Ralph Nader and Bob Barr should have been in the debates. We saw the same old Republican and Democratic political lines when the country needs new ideas and options.

Neither has a chnce to win. They should though have been included. Their spresnce there would have only taken time away from the two that have a chance. It can be said right now as fact that Nader and Barr will not win.

I'd love to see both Nader and Barr at the debates. It would have been alot more interesting to see people debate who have different opinions. Can't say I recall to many debates in college or out in the real world where half the time someone is says "John is right". So basically umm yeah if your big issue is this one and you don't like John's opinion well tough cause I agree with him on practically every point.

The American people at large and for whatever reason refuse to get behind any third party candidate enough to where a third party member could actually debate.

The exclusion of 3rd party candidates left more off the table than on it at the debate. Many viable options for addressing the economy and US foreign policy weren't even addressed. While very unlikely that a 3rd party candidate would be elected it doesn't mean that they don't present valid options for the American People to consider. With only Obama and McCain the People are left with a choice as to who they believe is right for America. With 3rd party candidates included the People would have been given the choice that neither Obama or McCain was right.

Obvously the Democrats and Republicans which control the debates are afraid of the opinions of 3rd party candidates which might show both major candidates as being wrong on the issues.

It is completely out of line. I am bafled that we as a nation allow this to happen. I strongly believe that if third party canidates were included in such debates, more people who find they agree with them, thus making them more likely to win. And being on the ballot in 45 states is more then qualified enough to be involved in the debate. This is not a two party system, but the Dems and Reps have us convised we are.
