Default Bill Clinton Says Dems Fault for Fannie/Freddie

They refused to heed the advice of Republicans. I think this clears it up once and for all. Watch the entire ad to hear Bill Clinton say it himself.

Isn't it interesting how the most worshipped of all Democrat Presidents suddenly is marked as a blathering idiot by the left when he points out the errors of their ways!!!

The fact is that Clinton found economic success in his presidency by following the lead of the Republican Congress in his second term. As I recall, Democrats HATED him back then because he would not go along with many of the party's harbrained schemes!

Probably the most educated Democrat ever as well. What I also find interesting is the lack of comment or rebuttal from the left.

That is because you guys repeat yourself with the same nonsense in multiple threads. It has been debunked already many times....furthermore, this exact video has been posted in a different section: current events, probably.

I know you are desperate to pin it on Dems. They share some blame but the lion's share goes to the Repubs.

No facts in your response. I heard the words were straight from Bill Clinton's mouth. Hmmm... His comments or yours? Which one should I figure is more accurate? I will stick with my initial thoughts on the matter. There is no nonsense here. And there is nothing to debunk. Facts are facts! Welcome to reality!

President Hosts Conference on Minority Homeownership

en Espaņol En Espaņol

October 15, 2002

Today's Presidential Action

President George W. Bush hosted the White House Conference on Minority Homeownership to discuss public and private sector efforts to address the homeownership gap and increase the number of minority homeowners in America.

In June, President Bush announced the national goal of increasing the number of minority homeowners by at least 5.5 million by the end of this decade. Meeting the President's goal will not only help more Americans enjoy the benefits of owning their own homes it will also help strengthen America's economy. According to a study released today by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, meeting the President's goal will involve $256 billion in economic activity in the form of construction and remodeling jobs, spending on household goods, and other benefits.

From Bloomberg News

....The companies ( Freddie and Fannie) said they were urged to increase purchases of subprime debt by the Bush administration. The Department of Housing and Urban Development said in 2005 that Fannie and Freddie should increase financing for low-income areas or moderate-income regions with high minority populations to 37 percent of new business from 34 percent in 2001 through 2004. That rose to 39 percent last year.

The updated goals ``were significant enough to force them to go down the credit curve to meet them, which meant participating in some way or form in the higher-risk areas of the mortgage market,'' said David Stevens, a former head of Freddie's single- family mortgage business who now runs lenders affiliated with Long & Foster Real Estate Inc. in Fairfax, Virginia. That included ``the subprime business.''

This, combined with Republican led deregulation , corrupt mortgage originators, Greenspan's easy monetary policy and corrupt rating agencies, led to this meltdown. There were those who tried to send a warning about the problem but were ignored. The Democrats share blame. They are all receive campaign funding bribes.

You should really try to read the 120 threads already posted on this topic.

You are equating encouraging lending to minorities to lending money to people who can't afford the loans. I have news for you, there are whites and minorities alike that have receieved loans that they cannot afford. Also, encourage lending to minoriities if they can afford it, is the right thing to do. There shouldn't be lending discrimination based on race. And we know that Bush is on record trying to stem the subprime lending disaster as you can read here from the New York Times article:

New Agency Proposed to Oversee Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae
Quote:
The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago.

Under the plan, disclosed at a Congressional hearing today, a new agency would be created within the Treasury Department to assume supervision of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored companies that are the two largest players in the mortgage lending industry.

The new agency would have the authority, which now rests with Congress, to set one of the two capital-reserve requirements for the companies. It would exercise authority over any new lines of business. And it would determine whether the two are adequately managing the risks of their ballooning portfolios.

The plan is an acknowledgment by the administration that oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- which together have issued more than $1.5 trillion in outstanding debt -- is broken. A report by outside investigators in July concluded that Freddie Mac manipulated its accounting to mislead investors, and critics have said Fannie Mae does not adequately hedge against rising interest rates.
Some republicans were trying to stop this subprime stink and the democrats most certainly were the fiercest supporters of continueing loans to unqualified peoples. That is the painful truth.

They are desperate and grasping at straws. They are blinded by their false prophet, the annointed messiah, that has no record to stand on, and even his record that exists is in stark contrast to his handlers' campaign rhetoric that they write for him!

This sums up my feeling towards the numbnut Obama supporters:
Teenagers scare the living stink out of me!
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed!

They have no idea how dangerous Obama really is.

He is the most dangerous politician this Country has seen in years. He will be even more dangerous if he is actually elected to the Presidency.

So how do you explain the words coming out of Bill's own mouth?
"It has already been debunked" has become code for I can't refute it here on the board lately!
