I dont think that Obama is absolutely perfect, in fact there are a few points that i dont agree with him on. However i feel that he would be the best candidate to lead this country out of the mess that we are headed for.

Wow. Polls must have really SUCKED for McCain today.
This is Whaley's third "I hate Obama, and here's why" thread in about 10 minutes. OK. I'll play. I consider it a negative that ignorant people refuse to look past his name or his skin color, and prefer -- instead -- a warmongering old man with possible early onset Alzheimers who will turn the presidency over to a bimbette with the IQ of a spaniel.

I don't know if you would consider me an Obama supporter, since I've professed my preference for Nader, but I have said many times that he is not perfect. He has some good ideas, but to me he is leaning a bit too much towards the middle, presumably to snag a few moderate votes. I'd like to see him take a stronger stance on health care, education, and eliminating free trade policies.

I dislike some of his positions on trade. I love NAFTA, and he has hated on it in the past when he was running against Hillary. I am also against nationalized healthcare until we can afford it, which will hopefully be towards the end of Obama's second term. He also says "ah" to much when he speaks.

Do you often assume people think someone is perfect because they do not explicitly say he is not?
I tend to agree with Obama's advisors on most things, which means I'll likely agree with his policies. What I don't always agree with is the way he states some of them. For instance he obviously is a free trade guy, albeit taking a more ethical and moderate stance than most right-wingers... but he tends to cater to protectionists. His tax policies... I think $250,000 is lower than where we need to divide rich from middle class. I'm a bit iffy on capital gains taxes, unless they are tiered. I wish he'd be a bit more specific on what he'll cut in order to replace it with new programs. I do have confidence that his economic advisors know what they are talking about, so that alleviates many of my fears. I see another Clinton problem coming with his foreign policy... He tries to sound tough to please the hawks, and that may result in the division of going back on a promise or taking a half-hearted measure to deal with it (as was the Clinton approach to Bosnia). That's nothing compared to McCain's unabashed hawkishness... McCain makes most neo-cons look like pacifists. Of course... I also have many of the same complaints about John McCain... plus I hate McCain's other policies and cannot even begin to imagine the nightmare of his VP taking over. So... Obama's not perfect. But McCain is far less perfect.

However, I feel the alternative, in McCain/Palin is worse. I dislike their stances on abortion, creationism in the classroom, that he has been a staunch deregulator, that he is more for tax cuts for the rich enforcing trickle down economics that don't work, they are both anti-union, both pro so called free trade, that they are for more oil drilling instead of renewable resources than Obama. I also feel that McCain has jumped more heavily into negative politics than Obama did at first, although at present they are both behaving badly in that regard. Get back to the issues you two 'tards. My negative list for McCain is simply larger than my negative list for Obama. |
