What do you think about this article and McCain's actions the past number of years?

I'm not too impressed with him or John Kerry after reading the article - I was hoping to gain some more insight from some of you insightful people.

John McCain, who has risen to political prominence on his image as a Vietnam POW war hero, has, inexplicably, worked very hard to hide from the public stunning information about American prisoners in Vietnam who, unlike him, didn't return home.



The sum of the secrets McCain has sought to hide is not small. There exists a telling mass of official documents, radio intercepts, witness depositions, satellite photos of rescue symbols that pilots were trained to use, electronic messages from the ground containing the individual code numbers given to airmen, a rescue mission by a special forces unit that was aborted twice by Washington—and even sworn testimony by two Defense secretaries that "men were left behind." This imposing body of evidence suggests that a large number—the documents indicate probably hundreds—of the US prisoners held by Vietnam were not returned when the peace treaty was signed in January 1973 and Hanoi released 591 men, among them Navy combat pilot John S. McCain.

This article is pretty crazy. You should link the youtube of him fighting in the early 90s in congres, against someone who represented Vietnam MIAs. She wanted release of some Pentagon documents regarding this info and she kept getting stonewalled by him. He was a total dick about it.

Apparently there are 2 theories

A - Being a POW was a tramatic experience and unearthing these documents would force him to relive the experience

B - He doesn't want the audio released of him when he folded to his vietnamese captors. I doubt when you hear it he would sound like much of a "maverick"

He claims he just wants the families to bury it so they can move on with their lives, but how can someone move on unless every piece of evidence is analyzed?

FYI - This was written by a pulitzer prize winning journalist

I think I can guess where you get your news from, and this article is a little more credible than the accusations against Kerry.

Unless you can debunk the article it's not Swiftboating. Regardless, what goes around, comes around.

Sorry. Sounds like a crock to me. I would need much more proof than I see in this story to believe it.
