Gwen Ifill, who will host the VP debate tomorrow night is being called into question about her conflict of interest: a book about Obama that is due to come out on election day and that she stands to make a lot of money from IF Obama wins. But now, she plays the old stand-by: the race card, in an effort to silence everyone from even bringing up this possible conflict of interest.


"Do you think they made the same assumptions about Lou Cannon (who is white) when he wrote his book about Reagan?" said Ifill, who is black. Asked if there were racial motives at play, she said, "I don't know what it is. I find it curious."

Oh yes, they would, Gwen! You can bet your bottom dollar if a white, conservative was supposed to be the debate host Thursday night....one who had a book on McCain due to come out on election day---it's ALL we'd be seeing on the news right now---24 hours a day! And I doubt very seriously, they would be allowed to host it.

So, does Gwen Ifill get a pass too?

Ifill has been out with her book since July 23rd. Ifill has brains Palin doesn't..it doesn't look good. Ifill is nonbiased.

Both campaigns agreed on her being the moderator as well, so whats the big deal now? is it just another reason to cry the unfair liberal media? Looks like the bar has been set so low for Mrs. Palin that conservatives are making up excuses for her ahead of her opening her mouth.

What pass is it that she is getting?

Blame Drudge: Ifill's book, The Breakthrough, is a thought exercise on the "black political structure" of the civil rights movement, and outlines how that struggle led to today, where we're moving toward racial equality. Of course, it would be author's malpractice not to mention Barack Obama in that scenario, because he is the most visible result of that process: a black man able to run for president on a major party ticket.

Please explain to us how Ifill writing a book on Blacks in politics makes her Pro-Obama.

Reality is that all human beings are biased in some ways. I think the book calls into question her bias, but if the McCain camp says lets go then I say it's a done deal and move on.
