Default Republican leaders break ranks with McCain

In another thread, Louisiana-Oilman was predicting that Monday's headlines would be about "Obama has affair behind wifes back: Story to be released Monday".

Yeah, well here are Monday's headlines already - and they're not about Obama's alleged peccadillos.

Republican leaders break ranks with McCain
By Stephen Foley in New York
Monday, 13 October 2008

Senior members of the Republican party are in open mutiny against John McCain's presidential campaign, after a disastrous period which has seen Barack Obama solidify his lead in the opinion polls.

And as disputes raged within the McCain camp yesterday, Democrats took another symbolic step towards healing the party after their bitter primary battles, as Bill and Hillary Clinton made their first joint appearance in support of Mr Obama.

With just over three weeks to go to election day, a new Reuters/Zogby tracking poll showed the Democratic candidate gaining momentum during the past week. From a two-point lead four days ago, the latest reading has Mr Obama up 6 points. A Gallup poll yesterday put him at plus-7 per cent.

Some Republicans seeking election to Congress have begun distancing themselves from Mr McCain. In Nebraska, a Republican representative, Lee Terry, ran a newspaper ad featuring support from a woman who called herself an "Obama-Terry voter".

and so on and so forth...

Pretty bad when:

1) McCain must distance himself from Bush to try and win the Presidential Election

2) Now congressional candidates must do the same to have a chance at winning their local districts.

Sad how this is turning into a very nasty loop.

Time for some heads to roll at Party Headquarters. If McCain wants to get out of this with his reputation he's going to have to do something.

Well he did claim to be a Maverick. Wouldn't be much of one if the rest of the party agreed with him.

Though I fear Palin was too maverick of a move.

I knew he would irritate his base and fairly quick. Especially with his sudden love for socialism. Meh i guess this will give republicans time to reorganize their base and start over.

Isn't it rather odd that Dems/libs see all kinds of problem here----but nothing about the FACT that Obama's supporters actually booed John McCain's military service the other day?

Do ya'll just not notice those things when it's happening on your side?

Republicans are socialists. They keep proving it. I'd suggest to the so called "conservatives" that rather than abandoning everything you believe in, vote for somebody that actually represents a large amount of your stances (possibly the majority). Bob Barr is your candidate if you care anything about individual liberty and a free market economy. Stop claiming to be conservative while voting for socialists.
