Default Sarah roasted in Alaska paper, you betcha!

A couple of scathing commentaries directed at Sarah Palin on Alaska Daily News Opinion Page. I wouldn't be surprised if this paper comes out in support of Obama eventually.

Palin is wrong woman at wrong time

STEVE HAYCOX

It is surely ironic that Garrison Keillor, creator of Lake Woebegone, "the little town that time forgot and the decades cannot improve," where "the women are strong, the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average," has registered his disgust with Sarah Palin, America's new small-town heroine.

In a recent column, Keillor wrote that "dishonest, cynical men" put forward a "clueless young woman" for vice-president, "hoping she could skate through two months of chaperoned campaigning." It is not working, Keillor averred. "The lady is talking freely about matters she has never thought about," and the American people "have an ear for B.S."

A costly personal, vindictive Palin vendetta? You betcha

ANDREW HALCRO

Let's ignore all of the emails, phone calls and sworn testimony from current employees of Governor Palin that show a bizarre obsession with getting the governor's ex brother in law fired. Lets for a minute ignore all of the evidence and assume that "Troopergate" is much to do about nothing.

Let's assume that the governor and her husband are being honest in their explanation that they were simply protecting their family and the public from a rogue trooper. Let's assume that the governor's public explanation of the phone calls to former Commissioner Walt Monegan from her, her husband and her staff were about honest outrage at a system that allows a dangerous trooper to continue carrying a badge and gun on Alaska's streets.

However, if the risk presented by Alaska State Trooper Mike Wooten was so grave, why didn't Gov. Palin do anything to protect Alaskans by letting them know? After all, if this story hadn't become public as a result of Monegan getting unceremoniously fired, not one Alaskan would have been been the wiser about this supposed rogue trooper.

I've always thought that the GOP has done Palin a huge disservice by thrusting her into the public eye before she was ready and has likely snuffed out her budding political career. She will have a difficult time getting elected in Alaska as the governor, senator or even the mayor of Wasilla once she loses in November. To much negative info has come out about her and even Alaskans don't like her much now.

I think Palin would have trouble getting re-elected as Governor even without the failed VP run. Alaskans are probably getting tired of corruption now that Stevens is on trial. She ran on a platform of reform and doing things differently than the 'good 'ol boys' and then jumped right into the mud with them.

Her biggest failure wasn't the Troopergate scandal, although that was certainly the highest profile screw up. Her biggest failure was repeatedly violating her own ethics legislation before and after it was passed.

I think her credibility and her career are completely through. Alaskans are now straddled with the knowledge that if they re-elect her, it would be humiliating for the state. They would be the butt of nationwide jokes for half a century.

It sucks that her family has to go home to such a tight-knit community. I know how "hospitable" those environments can be to someone who has been found to be "less than adequate."

From your statements about how difficult Sarah Palin is doing, someone would think that Barack Obama should be 10-15% in the lead over John McCain. Why isn't he? Is it because the voters still do not look at him as the one they want to lead America?

Or perhaps is it because the Obama campaign staff and aides have done a (*)(*)(*)(*) up job on their candidate.

Don't blame Sarah Palin for being a (*)(*)(*)(*) up, the blame goes to the Barack Obama campaign. They are the ones who deserve to get their ass rosted. Their Problem? No Backbone.

It's a very close race for the President and either candidate could win.
