Default Final Case for Undecideds

On this day in this great country, I ask all those who are unsure even slightly in this election to turn not to what is happening in America for a moment, nor in Iraq.
I ask you to turn to Canada, Canada the country with universal government paid healthcare, is now starting up a national daycare program of universal daycare:
http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2...696485-cp.html

So why is this important to us? The history of any great nation from the United States of America to the Roman Empire, has withstood many dark times. We have been through countless wars, yet they all must end some day.
We have been through some times of civil liberty limitations like in our civil war with the suspension of Habeus Corpus or now with the Patriot Act. These history has shown will also go away some day.

But my friends, there is one action of government which shall never disappear, that is the welfare state. It is what has crippled any nation that embarks upon it and as Reagan warned:
"No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear."

This choice is far more than some war anywhere or the need to punish Bush over anything from perceived misleading to simply how the man speaks. You cannot punish Bush for anything, without rewarding the Socialism of Kerry with his universal healthcare program that will take over healthcare responsibility for us all until the end of the history of this great country.
And it will not stop, I warn you now. Canada has long passed universal healthcare and now moves onto another stage of Liberalism with universal daycare.

Perhaps some of you are believing that with gridlock you get some sort of protection against bigger government. It will not be so. Canada is now ruled by a minority Liberal Party government, that is to say there is gridlock already there, yet the universal daycare program goes ahead as planned.

We must understand something critical about Sep 11 and war which is that in times of war, the mood of the people shifts somewhat to wishing for more security from the federal government...some greater protector to look to if you will. This is a temporary feeling and one that wanes as the terrible memories of Sep 11 become ever more distant. Yet it is a threat right now. Debt and the Vietnam war did not stop the worst president this country ever saw in LBJ, from launching massive government dependance programs of Food Stamps, Medicare, SS expansion and welfare expansion. It took more than a decade to recover from that somewhat and we have a debt that has never stopped increasing since that time.
Meanwhile the war has long since ended but the programs have people just as dependant on them now as ever.

Thomas Jefferson warned against the dangers of the state taking over responsibility for healthcare:
"The care of every man's soul belongs to himself. But what if he neglect the care of it? Well what if he neglect the care of his health or his estate, which would more nearly relate to the state. Will the magistrate make a law that he not be poor or sick? Laws provide against injury from others; but not from ourselves. God himself will not save men against their wills." – Thomas Jefferson

The road of government dependance is not a road that ends, and the road of Liberalism has but one end. A state where an individual is granted complete freedom to do as he wishes with none of the personal responsibility that must accompany it.
That a man can shoot up with what drugs he wishes and it is government's fault to provide him universal healthcare to cure him and to provide him drug recovery programs and needles.
That a man can have sex with what he pleases and it is government's job to fund AIDs research to cure him.
That a father can have children with whatever women will have them and it is government's job to raise them with universal daycare.

My heart breaks for this, to see a road that can only end with complete and total dependance on government with no one feeling the need to be responsible for themselves. This cripples the heart of what a nation is...and is the furthest thing from what this great country of America defines itself to it's very beginnings in our sacred Constitution.

I ask you all to consider more than the issues of the day, more than the feelings of a candidate, to see instead a road that can be taken, to do more than simply slow down on this road but to have the courage to turn back from it, to steer this country in a new direction. For all our carping over Bush, he is a mere politician and like most politicians he will only give what he perceives people as asking for. If we can speak loud and clear, to Congress and through which congressmen and senators we elect, with a strong and vigilant force of keeping them to pushing for smaller government, for less government dependance, then Bush is our better chance at signing those bills that can finally reach him.

It is time that those undecideds, Libertarians and moderate Republicans and Democrats alike realized that we must unite under pushing for less government dependance and that the Republican Party for all it's faults, like all party's is just a vehicle. It's direction can be changed, as this country's must be and it will not do so from simply abandoning it.

Let's stay true to the great independent spirit of America.
Thank you.
