I don't think the color of a person's skin matters nearly as much to him as shared culture and values.
And, I don't care, particularly, if a person is racist. That's not the be-all, end-all horror for me that it is for most of you. My parents were pretty difficult when I married my brown husband and still have issues with it. I didn't stop loving them or thinking they were terrific parents simply because they don't necessarily approve of everything I do. At the time, they thought I'd made a huge mistake in my choice, and they probably still do, to some extent. What matters to me isn't THEIR approval of my choices, but MY APPROVAL of my choices. I accept that their racial views are part of who they are, and are impacted by their experiences and the generation they grew up in. I'm not going to change them, and I don't even try. I know they like my husband now, but they'd probably like a white guy more. That is the reality. Oh, well. i'd have no problem living next door to Eric, even though we disagree on many subjects, and I suspect he'd have no problem living next to me. Catz

I would have no problem living next door to Condoleeza Rice, Colin Powell, or Oprah Winfrey. But I would have trouble living next door to Mike Tyson, Maxine Waters, or O. J. Simpson. So......it's not about race. All of those people are black. But some I admire and respect and think would be nice neighbors. The others I don't admire and respect and I think wouldn't be good neighbors. It's just that simple.

There are 50.5% women and 49.5% men in this country. So that means since there are a majority of women that they should run everything? The US is a melting pot, I think every major race should be able to have at least some voice in government. Personally I could care less if 2/3 of the politicians were black. I'd rather have 2/3 of the government be Rice (and agree with my views) versus 2/3 Michael Moore types who I disagree with on almost everything, but happens to have the same skin color as mine. So you're saying you'd rather have a bunch of Michael Moore's in office simply because you share the same skin color? Sorry, that just sounds rather silly to me. Not ALL blacks have the same cultural background as most blacks just like the same applies to whites.

But I am still interested in this question. I am not trying to lead this anywhere, I am just curious. Do you consider our politicians to be over us or serving us?

...that our politicians are over us, for the most part. I personally don't care for it.
I've already stated in the past that I wouldn't mind living next to Catz and her family; her husband and I have similar political views in many ways, and (not to be indelicate, but) I suspect her mixed children might very well breed back into the fold, as it were, their less-European blood becoming a footnote in generations to come. Rebellion, I don't think you're understanding me.
