And that would be a lie. The debate goes on as we talk now. If we let a bunch of fanatic individuals push us around because of their made up fear, we might as well have let Hitler rule us 70 years ago.
Point is, Global warming is teh most recent scare used by far left wingers to get control of the citizens of different nations.

Plenty of scietists are skeptics or against the notion of Global Warming.

Science is not left or right wing. Science is not political. Science uses data to reach conclusions.
How do "leftwingers" use GW to get control of different nations?
Are you telling me German Chancellor Angela Merkel is a "fanatical individual" and a member of the "left wing"?
Show me the research any of these "prominent scientists" did on AGW. If they haven't done any research, they are expressing their opinions. In science, the research done by the hundreds of scientists trumps the opinions of the "prominent scientists".

Once again the scientific debate over AGW is over

Maybe you wouldn't have a problem driving a sissy Prius, but a lot of hobbyists and enthusiasts (like me for one) take pride in what they drive, especially classic muscle cars. The Global warmists won't be happy until every hobbyist's pride and joy is chop-shopped into a Japanese hybrid. Nobody ever thought of those people on this issue.

Why do you think you have some sort of right to consume resources at a vastly greater rate than the rest of the earth's population? Why do you think you have some sort of right to emit CO2 at a vastly greater rate than the rest of the earth's population? You do not own the atmosphere you pollute. Do you plan on paying compensation for the excessive damage you cause to something that doesn't belong to you?

Take a tip - sell the car, catch a train. You do realise don't you that people probably giggle at you as you drive by in your "muscle car". Everybody knows they are just penile compensatory devices.

The "rest of the earth's population" doesn't not consume/pollute because of some tender concern for the environment - it's just that their economies are puny. Every one would be like the People's Republic of China if they could, which will soon overtake the US in that regard.

The USA's per capita emissions are 5 times what China's are. How do you figure that China will overtake the USA soon. And how does this relate to Americans claiming that they have some sort of "right" to waste resources with "muscle cars"?

Uh, that would be wrong, the PRC has already over-taken the US in CO2:

And "waste" resources?? You mean use them for something you disagree with.

Yes, I am wrong aren't I. I said:
"The USA's per capita emissions are 5 times what China's are", when in fact they are now a bit more than 4 times what China's are. Thanks for the update. But the point remains, it will still be a long time before China's per capita emissions outstrip the USA.

It appears however, that you want to compare the emissions of 300 million people directly with the emissions of 1.3 billion people. Why do you think that is valid? Perhaps it would suit your argument better if you simply said:" Non-Americans are responsible for 75% of all emissions - they are the problem!" - and ignore that fact that the USA which contains only 4% of the worlds population is responsible for about 25% of emissions. It is fun to blame others, isn't it!

No, the fact remains - the average American (or Australian or Canadian), is still emitting more than 4 times as much CO2 as the average Chinese person. Is China's rapid growth a concern - yes of course, but the real problem still lies in the western industrial nations. It is they that contributed most to causing the problem, and it is the western industrial nations which need to do the most to address it.
