Not sure what that has to do with capitalism, but yes, quite a bit to be grudgefull about, not on a personal level perhaps but more of a caring for other people bent.

I will agree with you. The globe cooled between the 1940s and the 1970s. Current research suggests that acid rain was * a * factor in the cooling and Flue Gas Desulfurization was one reason for the reversal of this cooling trend.

From the second link:

Large-scale FGD units did not reappear in commercial operation at utilities until the 1970s, where most of the activity occurred in the United States and Japan.

Now hold on a sec. As far as I can tell, Fred Singer came up with that number for the 1996 IPCC report. Show me someone on "my side" that's made that claim.
Singer came up with the 2,100 scientists.
From the IPCC site :
"The IPCC is a scientific body: the information it provides with its reports is based on scientific evidence and reflects existing viewpoints within the scientific community. The comprehensiveness of the scientific content is achieved through contributions from experts in all regions of the world and all relevant disciplines including, where appropriately documented, industry literature and traditional practices, and a two stage review process by experts and governments."
Re DANILIN Mikhail: I'd say satellite imagery is an important and relevant discipline when it comes to climate science

This petition even though a decent chunk of its crap is still large and shows what the scientific communisty really thinks.

Arthur Robinson, president of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine, the small, privately funded institute that circulated the petition, declines to say how many copies were sent out. “We’re not willing to have our opponents attack us with that number, and say that the rest of the recipients are against us,” he says, adding that the response was “outstanding” for a direct mail shot.

Without methodology and total mailings the 19,000 number is nothing more than propaganda.

From the NSF web site there were about 170,000 earth, atmospheric, and ocean science degrees awarded between 1966 and 2004. Between 1966 and 2004 there were about 390,000 in chemistry, 153,000 in physics in 1,768,000 in biology. That's about 1,200,000 degrees in earth sciences, chemistry, physics, and biology between 1983 and 2004. So does 19,000, about 2%, scientists still sound like a large number?

It's the largest number of it's kind for this subject so yes it does sound like a large number.

Foolish Mortal, When it comes to AGW, 2,500 > 19,000!

Now, Stop Making Fun of Me, and saying I can't read! It's really hurting my feelings! If you'll excuse me, I'll be over here not answering any questions asked to me and say you don't deserve to be treated fairly!

I would like to see some of those questions answered. Does this mean the debate is over?

The scientific "debate" was over a long time ago. What remains, to put things in your terms, is to get America on-board.
