Starting to get the picture? 19,000 still seem like a large number?

Thanks for the economic link. I'll read up on it.
Do they all agree and come publicly by signing a petition clearly stating “There is convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing a catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate”?

Your argument is like saying the NEA accepts Barack Obama for President, since they has 3.2 million members therefore Barack will get 3.2 million votes.

You cannot find even 1 for me?

The opinions of these 19,000 "scientists" doesn't really count for much if none of them have ever published any research supporting their opinions, does it.

Another thing - who are these 19,000 "scientists" who don't agree with the IPCC? Why do you continually make things up?

I thought you were referring to the Oregon Petition when you quoted these 19,000 "scientists". It is claimed that these "scientists" signed a petition agreeing to the statement:

We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.

Where does that mention the IPCC? I'm sure there are many scientists who would agree that there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate.

Could you show me where the IPCC says that there is there is convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate.

I am not convinced that AGW will result in catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere I understand that there is considerable evidence that the impact of moderate heating of the earth's atmostphere may have impacts upon human habitation that in some instances may me catastrophic. But not that there will be catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere

So, who exactly are these 19,000 "scientists" who don't agree with the IPCC? Where did you get that from?

(and for those who want to read more about the wonderful Oregon Petition - please go here:
http://timlambert.org/2004/05/oregonpetition)
I love it Tim Lambert! Does he teach anything weather or climate related at the University of South Wales? Here's a link to his school page.

What he Teach's:

* Computer Graphics
* Advanced Graphics
* Engineering Design and Innovation
* Computational Geometry

http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~lambert/

The opinion of computer teacher doesn't really count for much if:
1) He has absolutely no education in climatology
2) Has never published any research supporting his opinion.

Does it.

Quote:

Scientists who doubt there's a scientific "consensus" that we face dangerous man-made global warming.

Prof John Christy, IPCC lead author and head of Alabama's Earth System Science Centre: "I've often heard it said that there is a consensus of thousands of scientists (who say) humans are causing a catastrophic change to the climate system. Well, I am one scientist, and there are many, that simply think that is not true."

Prof Charles Wax, Mississippi state climatologist: "There isn't a consensus among scientists."

Dr Roy Spencer, formerly NASA's senior climate scientist: "The only consensus I'm aware of is that it's warmed in the last century."

Prof emeritus Joel Kauffman, University of the Sciences in Philadelphia: "(M)any professors of climate science realize that carbon dioxide generated by human activity has caused little or no global warming."

IPCC scientists who doubt even the IPCC, said to represent 2500 scientists who all believe in dangerous man-made warming.

Prof Yuri Izrael, IPCC vice-chairman: "There is no serious threat to the climate."

Richard Lindzen, former IPCC lead author and meteorology professor at MIT: "There is no substantive basis for predictions of sizeable global warming due to observed increases in minor greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, and chlorofluorocarbons."

Dr Vincent Gray, IPCC reviewer: "The continued fairly unchanging warm weather since 1998 shows no signs of increasing, and is probably influenced by changes in the sun."

Dr Christopher Landsea, former IPCC author and hurricane expert: "It is beyond me why my (IPCC) colleagues would utilise the media to push an unsupported agenda that recent hurricane activity has been due to global warming . . . I personally cannot in good faith continue to contribute to a process that I view as both being motivated by pre-conceived agendas and being scientifically unsound."

Petitions of scientists who doubt the faith.

A 2006 letter to Canada's Prime Minister signed by 60 experts in climate-related fields: " 'Climate change is real' is a meaningless phrase used repeatedly by activists to convince the public that a climate catastrophe is looming and humanity is the cause. Neither of these fears is justified."

The Oregon Petition of Dr Frederick Seitz, US National Academy of Sciences past president, with the verified signatures of 17,800 scientists and technicians, including 2600 climate scientists: "There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere."

There is no room to post them all, but you should have the idea that we need not jump to conclusions regarding Global Warming, let the science play out...why the bums rush by Al Gore?
What do failed predictions have to do with CC? If I list 1000 correct predictions, does that mean you'll accept AGW?

Frank R. Boehm a safety engineer? nope
I found you one that isn't qualified. Find me one from the list that is.

Did they sign because they agreed with this:
Quote:
We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.

Or this:

What percentage of members would vote for Obama? So what percentage of the science organizations would accept their stance on AGW? Pick a number. one percent 10 percent? I've listed 4 out of 31 organizations with membership numbers totaling 213,000 scientists and engineers. 1 percent is 2130 scientists; from 4 organizations. Any way you add it up the number will far exceed your 19,000.

Is ex-Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell sufficiently qualified? She apparently has signed the petition too.

Jokers Add Fake Names To Warming Petition

WASHINGTON - It was touted as a collection of thousands of scientists debunking global warming. So was that Perry Mason on the list? And John Grisham? What about that Spice Girl?

Several environmental groups questioned dozens of the names: "Perry S. Mason" (the fictitious lawyer?), "Michael J. Fox" (the actor?), "Robert C. Byrd" (the senator?), "John C. Grisham" (the lawyer-author?). And then there's the Spice Girl, a k a. Geraldine Halliwell: The petition listed "Dr. Geri Halliwell" and "Dr. Halliwell."

Even the IPCC's own ranking members aren't buying it. Sorry, we can argue all week and we will still be on different sides of the fence. The IPCC’s computer models, used to predict the effects of global warming appears to have failed to accurately predict the influence that water vapor has on the temperature of the earth. Water Vapor accounts for The global warming scare is rapidly going the way of the cooling scare.

Sell those green chip stocks before they are good for back up toilet paper only. Had Kyoto been signed back in 1998, the global warming chicken littles would be strutting with puffed chests, proclaiming triumphantly their victory over global warming with this latest cooling trend. We would be saddled with the weighty cost of the cap and trade in perpetuity. It will be a hoot watching the disciples of Al Gore's First Church of the Hot and Gooey death and Discount House of Carbon Credits, hopping around trying to splain this one away.

Quote:
Water vapor constitutes Earth’s most significant greenhouse gas, accounting for about 95% of Earth’s greenhouse effect (4). Interestingly, many “facts and figures’ regarding global warming completely ignore the powerful effects of water vapor in the greenhouse system, carelessly (perhaps, deliberately) overstating human impacts as much as 20-fold.

Water vapor is 99.999% of natural origin. Other atmospheric greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and miscellaneous other gases (CFC’s, etc.), are also mostly of natural origin (except for the latter, which is mostly anthropogenic).

Human activities contribute slightly to greenhouse gas concentrations through farming, manufacturing, power generation, and transportation. However, these emissions are so dwarfed in comparison to emissions from natural sources we can do nothing about, that even the most costly efforts to limit human emissions would have a very small– perhaps undetectable– effect on global climate.

Sorry man sell those stocks before they're worthless.

Yes you are right, his opinion on climate science does not account for much - that is why I would not quote him on matters of climate science. I linked to his page because he a complied a lot of information that questions the validity of the Oregon Petition. You do not need to have published researh on climate science to question a dodgy petition

But re my previous questions - still no answers huh?

Try looking up Richard Lindzen, former IPCC lead author and meteorology professor at MIT: "There is no substantive basis for predictions of sizeable global warming due to observed increases in minor greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, and chlorofluorocarbons." He has, beyond that I will not do your research FOR you, however, I do charge $200 per hour for research and would be happy to research your theory's for you at that price.
