Default Priest offers "eco-confessions" for "non-green" sinners

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/com...cle2349163.ece

Hey, Catholic Church! What a way to drive yet another stake into your fading religion! What's next? A Global Warming Spanish Inquisition??
('cause, ya know....no one expects a spanish inquisition!)

Ya know...I went to Catholic school for 12 freakin' years...but I must have slept through the class, the day they taught us that driving SUV's and such was a SIN. Did Jesus get on the bat phone, to the Pope, and announce a whole batch of new sins, while we weren't looking?

Ah...but then we find the TRUE meaning of this farsical story...

“There is a huge amount of greed in the West. We have to be aware of the consequences of how we live.”

There you have it. Only people who live in WESTERN civilization are to blame. China, Russia, Japan...free pass. It's those WESTERN folk who are the real enemy.

Discuss.

Default Did these new commandments get sent via the 'Internets'

Un be leavable !!!!!!! So those pepperheads who run around in frocks got tired of boinking little boys and are now trying to mess with the minds of SUV drivers.

I wonder did Pope Arnold get a call from the the BIG G himself or did did Pope Arnold make up these new sins while swimming in the Holy See.

You're angst is misdirected towards the Catholic church. It's only one priest who is pushing this thing.

Yeah, it's pretty silly, but it's not like it's such a bad thing to encourage people to be more eco-friendly.

I don't know, maybe. From the article, this all just seems like a gimmick to make people more aware of the environment that is not endorsed by the church as a whole.

And it's little concern to me if the Catholic church makes driving SUVs a sin, anyway; I'm not a practicing Catholic.

You're right...it's just one priest. However, knowing what I know about the Catholic Church, I'm somewhat appalled that the Vatican hasn't come out and either told him to cut the chit, or told the media that he's a rogue kook.

Furthermore, the point isn't whether or not to encourage people to be more eco-friendly. The point is that this frocked freak is trying to get people to think it's a sin. Not just that it's a "bad thing for the environment," but that it's a mortal offense towards God to drive an SUV, or buy styrofoam. Bullchit.

Default Wanna' get more people's attention?

This priest or the Catholic Church, if that's who's against SUV's, wants to get more attention drawn to being good stewards of this planet, they should likewise condemn flying around in private jets as equally sinful.

Laurie David, multi-millionaire eco-activist who advocates driving a Prius hates people who drive SUV's. She doesn't mind climbing into her corporate jet and flying to one of her coastal 25,000 square foot mansions where she burns enough fuel to power her Prius between here and Hawaii 57 times.

These days Republicans are hypocrites if they're gay, and Democrats are hypocrites if they tout global warming while wasting natural resources like a drunken sailor.

Pitiful really.

I cannot believe the Catholic Church is buying into this.
