Thread: I've been outed by Anthony Watts!

  1. #1

Default I've been outed by Anthony Watts!

    Linky here: http://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/07/1...sting-company/

Note: In the comments, someone posted a couple of links to the "temperature data analysis" material that I originally posted to the UT discussion-board (linky here: http://forums.utsandiego.com/showthread.php?t=111201).

Here's what Anthony Watts had to say in response:
As for his UT discussion, I don’t see much there. Yes he shows the data, but has not been forthcoming on what he did with the data and how he arrived at his conclusion. -Anthony
Anyone who spends a few minutes perusing the above thread will see that I was *very* forthcoming about what I did with the data and how I arrived at my conclusions.

My response to the "outing" can be viewed here: http://forums.utsandiego.com/showpos...&postcount=113

(Note: Folks who find material in that UT thread helpful/informative are encouraged to post links to that thread on other discussion-boards. The more people who see that material, the better.)

Anyway, Watts apparently wants me to deny that I'm a goth-rocker. For the record, I will neither confirm nor deny that I'm a hard-core goth with gnarly tattoos, body piercings, and dark fantasies about being a vampire.

Watts has to direct the conversation away from the record temps somehow and it looks like you, caerbannog, were chosen.
    Congratulations!
    1. The Scientific debate remains open. Voters believe that there is no consensus about global warming within the scientific community. Should the public come to believe that the scientific issues are settled, their views about global warming will change accordingly. Therefore, you need to continue to make the lack of scientific certainty a primary issue in the debate, and defer to scientists and other experts in the field.--Luntz Research

That was a particularly sulky tantrum from Watts.

He actually does have a few good commenters, but most of them just rant about how much they hate Al Gore.

And you can also see how tiny and inbred the denialist movement is. If it's on WUWT, it will be parroted by all denialists everywhere the next day. Since they don't have science, an opinion blog is all they have to work with.

Wow equating Dr. Mann to Jonas Salk? Have you no shame? Why didn't you go all out and just call him a modern day jesus?

Me thinks your hero worship has gotten out of hand. Jonas Salk? Seriously?

    PS.

If you are the crow wannabe goth in the picture than I'm sure you have no trouble with Watts outing you because all goth are by definition attention seekers with low self-esteem.

The tweet was intended to be an expression of disgust at the slimy tactics of the professional denier crowd, not as any sort of "hero worship". If not for the slimy tactics of the dishonest deniers who have been attacking Mann all these years, he'd be just another journeyman scientist working away in obscurity -- so no, I don't consider him a hero. But he can't help but look like one when you compare him to the useless lowlifes who have been attacking him.

Folks, here's a fun little Windigo that I remember fondly from last year: http://www.politicalforum.com/curren...ml#post4153304

Just wanted to remind folks where Windigo's coming from....

That should be: "Here's a fun little Windigo *post*..."

Anyway, what's rather amusing about that WUWT/goth thing is that someone over at WUWT posted a couple of links to posts I had put up showing how to debunk Watts' favorite claims about NASA's global-temperature work. (Those posts not only showed my results, but included detailed explanations of the processing steps as well as links to all of the processing source code).

Well, Watts and his followers weren't interested in any sort of meaningful technical discussion about processing temperature data. They were obviously much more interested in goth-style leather and chains.

That's pretty much like Windigo -- never followed up to any of the posts I put up where not only did I provide the code he demanded, I explained in detail how it worked. He had zero interest in any of that -- just dropped it like a hot potato. But start a thread with a link to a "leather and chains" goth pic and he's all over it.

You compared him to the inventor of the Polio vaccine. As for him being another journeyman scientist. lol yeah like he wasn't already famous for inventing the hockey stick.
