Default Global Warming .... Make that Cooling

The Governments own data shows that the Globe has been on a cooling trend over the past 10 years. So what's the real reason they don't want to drill? Can you say special interest groups.
The chart show on my website was taken right off of NOAA's website, by plugging in Jan 1998 to Jan 2008, with China building over 1000 Coal Fired plants during that same period, where's the disastrous rise in Tempuratures?

This global warming (cooling) issue is an elusive one. I have read data supporting cooling and warming. It's hard to know what is really going on.

I was in Glacier National Park a few years ago. The park had around 125 glaciers in it back in the early 1900's when it opened. When I went, there were only about 25 left. The rest melted. This melting of glaciers has been increasing in other parts of the world too.

Also, our weather patterns are changing. Lots more natural disasters it seems.

The Earth has gone through to many to count cooling and warming cycles, all the planets in the solar system have warmed to some degree as well. Go to the website below. His theories make too much sense. It would also explain regional warming.

Quote:
Milankovitch Cycles in Paleoclimate

Milankovich cycles are cycles in the Earth's orbit that influence the amount of solar radiation striking different parts of the Earth at different times of year. They are named after a Serbian mathematician, Milutin Milankovitch, who explained how these orbital cycles cause the advance and retreat of the polar ice caps. Although they are named after Milankovitch, he was not the first to link orbital cycles to climate. Adhemar (1842) and Croll (1875) were two of the earliest.

A "wobbling top": The Milankovitch theory

A Serbian mathematician named Milutin Milankovitch was intrigued by this puzzle of climate change, and in the 1930s he presented a theory that might explain it. Milankovitch studied climate records, noting differences over time. He theorized that global climate change was brought about by regular changes in Earth's axis, tilt, and orbit that altered the planet's relationship to the Sun, triggering ice ages.

Earth doesn't rotate perfectly like a wheel about an axis; it spins like a wobbling top. Every 22,000 years, Milankovitch calculated, there is a slight change in its wobble. Every 100,000 years, there is a change in Earth's orbit about the Sun. Its almost circular orbit becomes more elliptical, taking Earth farther from the Sun. And finally, Milankovitch discovered, every 41,000 years there is a change in the tilt of the planet's axis, moving either the Northern or Southern Hemisphere farther from the Sun.

These cycles mean that at certain times there is less sunshine hitting Earth, so there is less melting of snow and ice. Instead of melting, these cold expanses of frozen water grow. The snow and ice last longer and, over many seasons, begin to accumulate. Snow reflects some sunlight back into space, which also contributes to cooling. Temperatures drop, and glaciers begin to advance.

It is a perfect explanation for the story below.

Quote:
Antarctic Ice Grows as Arctic Ice Declines
by Jeremy Elton Jacquot, Los Angeles on 01.10.08
Science & Technology

With stories of melting glaciers and sea ice dominating the headlines, it may come as a surprise to some to hear that Antarctica - defying the unlucky fate of its northern cousin - has actually gained over the last two decades. Indeed, while scientists noted declines in the amount of sea ice between 2000 and 2002, satellite records have pointed to a steady half a percent yearly gain since 1978.

Climate models have consistently shown that Antarctica has responded much more slowly to global warming than has the Arctic. As Stephen Ackley, a scientist at the University of Texas, San Antonio, put it: "Arctic sea ice is well ahead of the models, and Antarctic sea ice is well behind what the models project." More recent studies have also determined that - outside the tropics - Antarctica displays the strongest climate response to the El Niño-La Niña cycles, suggesting the presence of many important feedbacks between sea levels, ice and air in the Southern Ocean that have yet to be elucidated - and serve to cloud the current climate picture.

Despite the gains of Antarctica's sea ice, the larger region - encompassing the Bellingshausen and Amundsen Seas - has suffered as a whole: glaciers in these seas, which flow from the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, are now losing ice to the sea faster than they are being replenished. This "very big threat to glacier ice," as Columbia University's Xiaojun Yuan calls it, could be the result of warm water upwelling near the coast - a consequence of global warming's impact on regional wind patterns.

So what's to account for the differences between Antarctica and the Arctic? Large geographic and oceanographic differences between the poles - an open sea in the south versus an almost landlocked sea in the north - facilitate the buildup of long-lasting, multiyear ice in the Arctic, as opposed to thin, seasonal ice in the Antarctic. As a result, scientists explain that accurately ascribing long-term trends in ice cover to both becomes very difficult. Some recent studies have posited that bacteria and algae living in the ice could trigger the production of large amounts of dimethyl sulfide, thus potentially limiting global warming's effect in the region.

Guess they never heard of the Milankovitch Cycles, which in conjunction with solar radiance cycles is a perfect fit on what is happening to warm the Earth's climate.

So True, look at this Cap and Trade system that they tried to pass in congress. If that would have passed, it would have increased Government taxes from 14 Trillion currently, to over 20 TRILLION!!!

If we are to believe the Geological record, the planet has gone from worldwide Desert to worldwide Rain Forest to worldwide ball of ice. We are currently living in what paleontologists call in "interglacial period", because they consider the "natural" state of this planet to be one where North America is covered under 50' of Ice.
We're living on borrowed time, history has shown us that the Ice will come back, but we're not worried about that, we're instead worried about WARMING!!!
We should be trying to figure out ways to prevent the planet to going back to a Glacial Period, not the other way around.

This one guy on Digg, Monoa, is driving me nuts. Keeps launching into the SAME OLD Arguments that we're just stupid AGW deniers, so here was my last post to him, I'd like to see him get out of this one:
So Basically Monoa what you're saying is you can't explain the Data, that's showing a downtrend in Worldwide Temperatures over the last decade, despite massive carbon output, so you've just resigned yourself into launching into the same old arguments.

"You guys are just a bunch of stupid deniers blah, blah, blah."

The fact that it snowed in Baghdad for the first time in 100 years means nothing to you.

The fact that is South America has had it's worst and longest winter in 90 years means nothing to you.

The fact that India has had Record Snowfall means nothing

The Fact that South Africa has had it's first snow in 26 years means nothing

The fact that last year we had the coldest April in all of our record keeping here in the States

The fact that this May had record snowfall, since records have been kept in Michigan (1880) means nothing to you.

And of course, the fact that the ENTIRE, Northern Hemisphere has had the most snowfall since 1966, that means nothing
http://wattsupwiththat.wordpress.com/2008/02/09/ja ...

So what you're saying Monoa, is I'm just supposed to ignore all this because you guys are smarter than me, and your computer models are like God, they're infallible and can't be mistaken, so I should just STFU and go home. I need to stop reading, and stop using my brain to figure out that something doesn't smell right and just let congress pass the biggest tax increase in history in the form of a Carbon Cap and Trade system, because it's all for my benefit, it's not about money it's about saving the world right.

I'm just curious Monoa, did you even go to the link provided on my site to NOAA's website and plug in Jan 1998 to Jan 2008? Or did you just figure I was another lying AGW Denier, and you didn't need to waste your time? Think for yourself, don't let others do it for you. Your Brain is like every other part of your body, if you don't use it, it tends to atrophy.

Just look at what they want to do with your hard earned tax dollars.

Quote:
John David Dingell, Jr. (D - MI) He is the 2nd longest serving Representative ever and the 4th longest serving Congressman ever. Since 1955...

Dingell again became chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, a panel he previously chaired from 1981 to 1995.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Dingell
Example of what Dingellberry wants to do with all that "green" money.

Quote:
Revenue generated by the legislation [carbon tax or cap and trade] will flow to an expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit. This, according to Dingell, helps lower income families compensate for the increased taxes on fuels. The revenue from the gas tax will go into the highway trust fund, with 40% going to the mass transit and 60% going to roads. The revenue from the tax on jet fuel goes into the airport and airway trust fund.

The revenue from the fee on carbon emissions will go into a variety of accounts, including:

* Medicare and Social Security
* Universal Healthcare (upon passage)
* State Children’s Health Insurance Program
* Conservation
* Renewable Energy Research and Development
* Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program

http://www.carbontax.org/

http://www.house.gov/dingell/carbonTaxSummary.shtml
Go to his website and look at how vast his taxing proposals go. This old goat has been in Congress since 1955....wasn't that the same year James Dean made Rebel Without a Cause?. He was the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee 1981 to 1995. 14 years of what? What did he do during those years to help make us less Dependant on foreign oil. In that respect his chair was a total disaster, but look who's back. Is this what Obama means change we can believe in? The same old goats running the show the way it's always been run?
