SECURITY in Iraq is "moving in a negative direction" and that the term "civil war" aptly describes elements of the conflict there, US intelligence chief Michael McConnell said overnight.

"Unless efforts to reverse these conditions gain real traction during the 12-18 month time frame ... we assess that the security situation will continue to deteriorate at rates comparable to the latter half of 2006," Mr McConnell told the US Senate Armed Services Committee.

The director of national intelligence also said "the term 'civil war' accurately describes key elements of the Iraqi conflict" including the hardening of sectarian divisions and population "displacements".

Make up your mind.

As for the second part..an analyst says it could be defiend as such...ok.

Using that so can parts of Afghanistan.
Hell so can parts of Los Angeles.

Why do you need it to be termed a Civil War Ted?
Why is it so important to you that it be termed such?

I know why its easy to see..but lest see if you'll actually admit it or simply plant tulips.

It wasn't me that termed it so. It was the Director of National Intelligence and US intelligence chief Michael McConnell that termed it a civilwar in front of the US Senate Armed Services Committee.

This isn't about me. It's about the Iraq occupation and the dicknbush administration being behind the curve and late to realize things.. rather than acting they have been re-acting.

That was 2004.. now it's 2007. Now most Americans have seen how destructive the rightwing extremists' egomaniacal arrogance and 'stayduhcourse' incompetence has been. It's no surprise that the majority of Americans have lost confidence with neo-conservatives and no longer believe what comes out of their mouths.

The Republicon administration was late to realize when the Iraqi invasion turned into an occupation, late to realize the occupation had turned into chaos, they were late to realize when it turned into an insurgency, they were late to realize it turned into a civilwar, and now they want another shot at saving bushndick's legacy. Will they listen to advice from the moderate liberals and conservatives?

Duh, Nationbuilding Iraq is not the job of the US military.

Bleedingheart liberals like you would like it to be, but it isn't.
