I see. Fundamentally, what you fear is that your own masculinity projected on the U.S. marines will be somehow immasculated. If you thought this through, you wouldn't talk about weak- willed Americans: what nonsence! Iraqis are being murdered primarily by other Iraqis!! Is the presence of U.S. troops helping or hurting this divisiveness, hatred and disintegration? Can some other police keeping units (say, Arabic speaking peace keepers) do a better job? Can the U.S be more effective pressuring the government to make political compromises- such as changing the debaathification laws -than it can breaking into homes? Have you ever tried to ask the question-what is best for Iraq? And who can best make that determination?
