Tells 60 Minutes Most Of Iraq's Christians Have Fled Or Been Killed

From the time of Jesus, there have been Christians in what is now Iraq. The Christian community took root there after the Apostle Thomas headed east in the year 35.

But now, after nearly 2,000 years, Iraqi Christians are being hunted, murdered and forced to flee -- persecuted on a biblical scale in Iraq's religious civil war. You'd have to be mad to hold a Christian service in Iraq today, but if you must, then the vicar of Baghdad is your man. He's the Reverend Canon Andrew White, an Anglican chaplain who suffers from multiple sclerosis and from a fanatical determination to save the last Iraqi Christians from the purge.

White invited 60 Minutes cameras and correspondent Scott Pelley to an underground Baghdad church service for what's left of his congregation. White's parishioners are risking their lives to celebrate their faith.

And Reverend White admitted that things were much worse now than they were under Saddam. Anyone who believes Iraq is more "free" now is living in a delusional dreamworld. Time to stop buying Bush's lies.

Many of the Iraqie Christians side with and help the Crusader Army that is raping Iraq.

They are traitors to the Iraqie people and don't deserve to live in Iraq.

Surely you are NOT suggesting that it's the Iraqi government that's killing any Christians, are you? Or that they condone it? Because I see no evidence of such:

They are our partners in this nation and are not to be judged by the statements of the Pope. The problem is that the Pope attributed behavior of some Islamic leaders of a certain era in history with Islam and its beliefs. If we were to look back in history, we will also find Christian leaders who committed crimes in the name of the cross. We do not hold Christians responsible for these actions since they were crimes of singular deviant leaders. What is needed now is an international agreement to punish all who insult God’s religions."

No. it is not the traitorous Iraqie puppet government that is killing the Christians.

And yet instead of going and helping your brethren accomplish your stated goal you sit in the states and preach from your computer in complete comfort.

Least those who deploy do what they feel is right.

Yeah.....I read that statement and don't agree with it at all.

This is no different that what happened in Kosovo. Christian Serbs were afraid to go out----were either killed or fled Kosovo. And so now, we have reverse of what we originally had.

Some people believe the same thing about Kosovo. It all depends on the perspective. It's up to the Iraqi gov't now to protect it's citizens. They have a police force for that.
