Qaradawi Orders Conquest of Israel by Palestinians: So Much for a Two-State Solution

Dear Friend of FLAME:

The fantasy of an Israeli-Palestinian peace grows more fantastic by the day, even as newly appointed U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry tries futilely to gin up a peace conference between Israel and the Palestinians. Kerry has already made three trips to the Middle East and still has nothing to show for it except a futile attempt to resuscitate a worn-out, decade-old proposal.

Kerry's latest ploy was the so-called Arab Peace Initiative (API), which was first proposed by Saudi Arabia in 2002 and adopted by the Arab League. The API calls for Israel to withdraw completely to the 1967 armistice lines (including from East Jerusalem), repatriation of Palestinian refugees to their homes in Israel and Arab recognition of Israel. Now Kerry has persuaded a number of Arab nations to reaffirm their support for the API.

Unfortunately, the API was a bad idea when it was proposed, and it's an even worse idea now. One problem is that since the 1967 war against five invading Arab armies, Israel has annexed all of Jerusalem and made the city its capital. Second, Israel has expanded Jerusalem's city limits and the country's western border into what was once Jordan-occupied territory in the West Bank. While this is a relatively tiny amount of land---and Israel has indicated its willingness to trade other land for it---the API does not allow for such swaps.

A second, even larger problem with the API is that it doesn't account for the rise and increasing power of Hamas, the Palestinian terror group that already controls Gaza with an iron fist. In the West Bank, aging Palestinian "President" Mahmoud Abbas has no successor, and his ruling Fatah party and the Palestinian Authority are in political and economic shambles. Over the next decade, the well-organized Hamas seems destined to seize control of the West Bank as well.

Hamas's mission, of course, is the complete destruction of Israel, the murder of all Jews and the establishment of an Islamic nation from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean. Hamas' influence in the Arab world grows daily, with visits by the Qatari head of state, who promised $400 million in support, and in June by Turkey's prime minister Erdogan---both of whom are snubbing Abbas. Last week Hamas and Gaza Palestinians were visited from Egypt by Sheikh Yusef Qaradawi, one of the most influential Sunni scholars and religious authorities in the Muslim world.

Just in case Western diplomats are still hoping that the Arabs want peace with Israel, Qaradawi gave them and the Gazans a spirited lecture on the Palestinians' sacred, irreversible obligation to conquer Israel and return it to Arab domination. If you have any friends who harbor hopes for an Arab-Israeli peace anytime soon, you'll want to send this article to them. Qaradawi's message is frightening, but because it's so passionate and well received by the Palestinians, it's deadly sobering.

Take a few minutes to read this disturbing article below by Lt. Col. Jonathan Halevi, then pass it along to friends, colleagues, and fellow congregants using the "send to a friend" button at the bottom of this email, or using the buttons above to share it via social media.

Thanks for your continued support of Israel, and thank you for your support of FLAME.

Best regards,

Jim Sinkinson
Vice President, Facts and Logic About the Middle East (FLAME)

P.S. One of the greatest roadblocks to peace between Israel and the Palestinians is the outrageous demand for the "return" of Arab "refugees" to Israel. This demand has many problems, including the Palestinians' fantastical definition of "refugees"---a group that by their count has mushroomed from 650,000 to more than five million---enough to swamp the Jewish nation with Arabs if the demand were ever fulfilled. To expose the absurdity of this demand---and of UNRWA, the United Nations agency that supports these refugees (thanks to hundreds of millions of American taxpayer dollars)---we at FLAME have recently published "Who---and How Many---Are the Palestinian Refugees?" in media reaching 10 million readers nationwide, plus distribution to all U.S. Senators and Representatives, members of the Supreme Court, and, of course, President Obama. I hope you'll review this outspoken position paper and pass it on to your friends, members of your congregation and colleagues. If you agree that FLAME's bold brand of public relations on Israel's behalf is critical, I urge you to support our publication of such outspoken messages. Please consider giving donation now, as you're able---with $500, $250, $100, or even $18. (Remember, your donation to FLAME is tax deductible.) To donate online, just go to http://www.factsandlogic.org/make_a_donation.html. Now more than ever we need your support to ensure that Israel gets the support it needs---from the U.S. Congress, from President Obama, and from the American people.
Sheikh Qaradawi's Visit to Gaza: "We Will Never Concede Palestine, and We Will Never Recognize Israel"

By Lt. Col. (ret.) Jonathan D. Halevi, Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, May 14, 2013

Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi, president of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, visited Gaza on May 7-10 at head of an entourage of 45, including senior officials of the organization. In the past, Qaradawi was a candidate for leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood, and over the years he has acquired the status of spiritual leader of this movement and of its Palestinian branch, Hamas.

Qaradawi received a warm welcome, especially from the Hamas leadership. They saw the visit as an important affirmation, by the longstanding and supreme religious authority of the Sunni Muslim world, of Hamas' rule in Gaza. The visit affirmed Hamas as a faithful exponent of the Palestinian people and the jihadist enterprise, aimed at conquering the State of Israel and making it part of the Islamic state of Palestine – eventually to be one of the provinces of the Islamic caliphate whose capital will be Jerusalem.

Qaradawi's visit was extensively covered in the Hamas government's media, which again highlighted the "sheikh of jihad's" (as Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh called him) backing for this Palestinian movement.

On May 10, the headline of the official Hamas daily Falastin was worded in that spirit: "Qaradawi calls for liberating the soil of Palestine." The subhead was a quotation of the most important statement he made: "We will never concede Palestine and we will never recognize Israel."

During the visit, Qaradawi set forth his political outlook, thereby offering a sort of vision for the future (as well as a sort of last will and testament, given his advanced age (86) and his own recent remark that his days are numbered). The following are the main tenets of that outlook:

Qaradawi's Vision for the Future

The Palestinians have a right to the soil of Palestine: "We join hands with the Palestinians and support the most just cause on the face of the earth, since the Palestinians were driven by the Jews from their homes by force of arms." Qaradawi denies any Jewish connection to the Land of Israel, regarding the Jews who have settled in it as foreigners who forcefully seized land that did not belong to them. "We are here, and here we will remain, we will not leave our land and starting from today there will be no emigration. We will die on our land or we will triumph."
The Palestinians have no right to concede Palestine. Qaradawi asserted that the Palestinians hold the deed to Palestine, but also emphasized that not one of them has the right or the authorization to give up his right and receive financial compensation in lieu of the soil of the homeland. "Islam and Sharia do not allow selling part of the homeland, and this, our homeland, belongs to us, and so it will remain and we will return to it." Qaradawi further stated: "We will never concede the right [to Palestine] and we will never recognize ‘Israel.'"
Qaradawi thereby assigns to the Palestinians the religious responsibility for liberating Palestine in the name of the Islamic ummah ("The people of Palestine and Gaza represent the entire Arab and Islamic ummah"). He severely forbids them to take positions that entail recognition of any foreign rule, Jewish or other, over the soil of Palestine. One implication is the denial of any possibility of political compromise or recognition of Israel's right to exist.
Unity is the key to the liberation of Palestine. Qaradawi spoke of the huge importance he ascribes to unity as a force multiplier that can enable the Muslims to overcome, as he sees it, even those with nuclear and chemical weapons. Unity must prevail in the internal Palestinian sphere and in the Arab-Islamic arena as well, thereby preparing the ground for an Islamic conquest of the entire State of Israel. "We want to see a united ummah that will forcefully assert its rights to the land, and at the forefront of those rights — Palestine."
Jihad is fundamental to the liberation of Palestine. The only strategy to liberate it, Qaradawi asserted, is "jihad in the way of Allah." This requires rejecting political dialogue and compromise while adhering to armed struggle in the spirit of Islam. He praised the residents of Palestine and Gaza for raising the flag of jihad and refusing to lower it despite the difficulties they have encountered. "I am proud to be a Gazan, since Gaza maintains its role in the jihad, in the struggle, and in the defense of the Al-Aqsa Mosque," he stated.
The ultimate goal is an Islamic state. Qaradawi called on Muslims to fulfill divine justice, establish a Muslim society, and subsequently a Muslim ummah. Regaining rights in Palestine is, in his view, an aspect of striving to regain the Muslim lands of the early Islamic era, in keeping with the mission of the Prophet Muhammad and those who came after him.
Dr. Marwan Abu Ras, president of the Palestinian Islamic Scholars Association, which is identified with Hamas, said in a speech honoring Qaradawi at the Islamic University that the Palestinians see themselves as continuing his path. "We are students of Qaradawi. We learned from him the true path [Wasatiyyah – the middle road], and [the way of] force regarding [the restoration of] rights, and [the way of] power regarding the prohibition on visiting Al-Aqsa [Mosque] when it is under occupation and [conditional] on its permission. We learned from him the [importance] of force in supporting the Palestinian resistance and in the actions of self-sacrifice [suicide]."

During the Second Intifada, Qaradawi published a religious ruling (fatwa) that permits suicide bombings and the killing of Israeli civilians. He headed the Union of Good organization, which raised millions of dollars for institutions connected to Hamas. A considerable part of these funds went to support Palestinian terrorists imprisoned in Israel, for the families of terrorists who were killed including those who had carried out suicide bombings, and for Hamas' dawah activity, which inculcates the values of jihad in Palestinian society.

The visit of Qaradawi, the premier religious scholar of the Sunni Muslim world, is of great significance for Hamas, which wins further, major legitimacy for its rule. The visit also indicates that Hamas' jihad approach is preferable to that of political negotiations, which the "president of Palestine," Mahmoud Abbas, represents.

The tailwind provided by Qaradawi is also vital for Hamas in the long-term battle it is waging against the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. This campaign aims at the eventual complete takeover of the PA and PLO institutions, while winning internationally recognized status for Hamas as the sole representative of the Palestinian people.

In the West, including some who are close to the Obama administration, Qaradawi has been portrayed as representing moderate, political Islam (Wasatiyyah). This notion helped legitimize the Muslim Brotherhood as an ally for the United States in place of longstanding regimes that fell in the revolts known as the "Arab Spring."

Qaradawi's words in Gaza reflect the real nature of Wasatiyyah (the true path): a clear-cut, organized approach to implementing Islamic religious rule in all the Muslim states, while adopting jihad as the means of realizing its political-religious objectives. This approach is similar to that of al-Qaeda, differing only in terms of the phases of implementation.

Moreover, Qaradawi, while focusing on the liberation of Palestine, also hinted at the Islamic obligation to liberate Spain from Christian occupation; the rule that no one has the authority to concede Islamic land applies to Spain as well (and to the other lands leading to the gates of Vienna). About a decade ago, Qaradawi issued a fatwa on the gradual conquest of the entire continent of Europe via Islamic exhortation (dawah) and the demographic factor, leading to the fulfillment of Muhammad's prophecy on the conquest of the cities of Constantinople (Istanbul), Jerusalem, and Romiyyah (Rome) as a condition for the emergence of the Mahdi, the Muslim messiah.

Finally, it should be noted that Qaradawi and his entourage entered Gaza through the Rafah crossing in Egyptian Sinai. Haniyeh, who welcomed him, boasted that there was and is no need for Israeli permission and that Qaradawi was coming to Gaza as had the "victorious conquerors" in the days of the Muslim conquests. Qaradawi's visit, like that of the high-ranking Bahraini delegation that concurrently arrived in Gaza, and hundreds of other delegations and visitors from abroad, indicates the simple fact that the Gaza-Egypt border is actually open and there is no "blockade" of Gaza.

1979 revolution in brief can be considered as:

The reaction of er fan (Gnosticism, sophism) against Modernism under regulations and ideology of Islam shiea, and under leadership of clergy men.

If we see this event in this angel, it is not surprising that it happened in Iran and in the last decades of 20 century.
This revolution was a peak of so many efforts and struggling from ancient time which get a new shape from half of
19 century, and after so many challenge with governments and modernism, besides absorbing some elements of them under
umbrella of religious concepts, in various ways. Islamic movements find an opportunity to show its huge potential under skin of society.

This opportunities were:

1.growing body of Islamic ideas in society besides challenging against western elements in Pahlavi time.
2.Worldwide revolutionary spirit of revolution, mostly leftist in that time.
3.New view of western governments to Islamic movements in middle east, in general.

These three plus epically-religious views of Iranian people provides a revolution which change the regime in 1979, the most important
event for so many people in middle east. It affects every thing in the region.
It could be classified in 5 periods:

1. Establishing
2. 8 years war.

3.Three rich and informative 8 presidential 8 years.

3.1 Rebuilding the country
3.2 Freedom dialogue
3.3 a Reaction about the past
-----------------------------------------------------------------
After war the country needs rebuilding, and rebuilding needs program. There was no practical economical program in hand(?)
so Iranian borrow it from the other ideologies. By a powerful management but possibly wrong program
every thing goes further.
What were neglected was cultural elements and revolutionary spirit of people in that time, consequently it made reactions.Unpredictable reactions
which should give us a lesson.
Culture and consciousnesses of society are two important and vital parameter of any progression.
It makes any plan of any society different from the other society.
Justice and family structure are known as neglected cultural elements in that time. The points that
in the next stages hadn't better situation.Education specially university education has grown fast in this period.

3.2 Freedom dialogue:

In origin it was a reaction to the 3.1 but in that time soviet union and utopia thoughts were
seemed as failed, the dialogue from justice switched on freedom.
This period had two opponents. Traditional and westerners policies.

3.3 Reaction about the past:
Coming back to justice dialogue
Passions, rebels, regrets
and now:
Having sufficient experiences, to have better models. Specially economical models.
The experience is in the case that we should consider
1.Family structure
2. Justice and progress
3.Education for all life time
4.Independence

To save the cahractristics.of the ideology.

Israeli settlers on their morning commute got quite the eyeful Monday morning when they saw a swastika-emblazoned red flag flying near a mosque in Beit Omar, a Palestinian village outside of Hebron.

Thousands of residents of Jewish settlements near Hebron and Bethlehem in Judea (the southern West Bank) drive to and from work on the road from which the flag was visible.
This is truly disturbing, but it is no great secret that hatred against Jews is endemic throughout the Muslim world as all polling results demonstrate. It is likewise not a secret that the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem was a renowned admirer of Adolf Hitler and organized the Arab revolt against the British in support of the Third Reich. It is, also, no secret that this man is still revered as a hero throughout the Arab world, even Yasser Arafat himself has stated as much:

"We are a mighty people. Were they able to replace our hero Hajj Amin al-Husseini? There were a number of attempts to get rid of Hajj Amin, whom they considered an ally of the Nazis. But even so, he lived in Cairo, and participated in the 1948 war, and I was one of his troops."

A disturbing incident took place Monday morning when Jewish residents of the West Bank villages of Gush Etzion and Kiryat Arba spotted a flag with a swastika flying over the nearby Palestinian Arab town of Beit Omar.

Uri Arnon, who saw the flag, told Tazpit News Agency: “I felt we were going back 75 years, losing our hold on the land. The Arabs no longer feel the need to hide their murderous tendencies, announcing out loud that they wish to destroy us.”

The IDF was notified and according to Israel’s Channel 2 a spokesman said that IDF soldiers were responding to complaints and attempting to have the flag removed.
