Social Security must only be for people who need this. Millionaires should not be allowed to get Social Security. Eg. The Eagles Donald Hugh Henley (Don Henley born 1947 formerly of Shiloh), Bernie Leadon (Bernard Matthew Leadon born 1947) & Glenn Lewis Frey (born 1948) should not be allowed to get Social Security but can collect, though all are millionaires. The Eagles should’ve retired in 1981 as their decade was the 1970s and people who’ve gone to their concerts since 1990s have spent money on musicians who are not in prime. Incidentally while Donald Hugh Henley is Irish, he is a bad Catholic & sinner if indeed he is Catholic while columnist Patrick J. Buchanan and Richard J. Santorum who are both part Irish are good Catholics. :flagus:

Other people who must be disqualified from getting Social Security would be musicians Ke$ha Rose Siebert (born 1987), Katy Elizabeth Hudson (aka KatyE. Perry born 1984), Pit Bull (a/k/a Armando Cristian Ruiz), Justin Drew Bieber (born 1994), Lady Gaga (born 1986), etc. because these musicians are millionaires. Billionaire Donald J. Trump must not be allowed to get Social Security.

Social Security must be for those who need the $. People must be allowed to get Social Security @ 40, as 40 is old. Women with 4 kids must be allowed to get Social Security. The late Daniel James (DJ) White who was a Vietnam War Sergeant should’ve been allowed to get Social Security for him and his wife after he was paroled in 1984 as people were not willing to hire him. Social Security must be for people who need the money for themselves or their kids and minimum age should be 40 to collect if 1 has no handicaps and based on need. People who are rich must not be allowed to get Social Security unless they can justify why they need the $, such as if they have many kids to support, have gotten into $ problems, etc. Yes, the law allows rich people to get Social Security, but law needs to be changed. What do you think :applause:

I was targeted and so were you. Now we know the IRS thinks of these websites as loons and crazies. Its been reported they spied on our posts and read our emails. Impeach Obama for this please!!! At least do something about it. I say we all stop paying taxes. Why are some people exempt from paying just because they belong to some group, but as individuals we are screwed! and if I can join your union or tea group and not pay taxes please let me know by PM.

EU Leaders to Pledge Tax-Evasion Fight With Savings Pact

European Union leaders in the coming week will pledge to step up efforts to fight tax evasion and conclude work by year end on an updated savings-tax...

European Union leaders in the coming week will pledge to step up efforts to fight tax evasion and conclude work by year end on an updated savings-tax pact that covers how countries share data, according to draft conclusions for their May 22 summit.

The EU leaders’ commitment comes after finance ministers failed to reach a deal on the savings pact last week because of reservations voiced by Luxembourg and Austria. The leaders also will endorse efforts to expand tax information-sharing worldwide, as sought by the U.K., France and other nations, according to the draft, dated May 17.

“Priority will be given to efforts to extend the automatic exchange of information at the EU and global levels,” according to the draft conclusions. The draft also notes “consensus on the scope” of the updated savings tax accord and calls for its adoption “before the end of the year.”

The EU savings-tax accord sets standards for how countries can collect information on income from savings that their residents earn in other nations. The updated accord aims to close loopholes in the previous pact by including savings income from trusts, foundations, funds and other financial products.

The update also requires all EU members to take part in information exchanges after a transition period. The original accord, passed in 2005, offered Austria and Luxembourg an exemption from automatic information exchange requirements, and those nations now have agreed to revise their policies.
Sticking Points

Current sticking points involve the timing of when the updated accord would take effect. EU finance ministers on May 14 approved the start of anti-tax-evasion talks with Switzerland and four other countries, and Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker said this week that those talks must conclude before the EU approves the new savings pact.

In addition to the anti-evasion commitments, EU nations also will call for renewed attention to “the supply of affordable and sustainable energy” and its effect on EU economies. Leaders will pledge to study energy prices, revisit state aid rules for energy investments and investigate ways to boost financing for energy-efficient projects, according to the draft.

“In the current economic context we must mobilize all our policies in support of competitiveness, jobs and growth,” the draft conclusions say.
I'm not sure where vice president Joe Biden is getting his information, but he seems rather confident that a tax can be levied against "violent media." He may want to check with the Supreme Court, which has ruled against regulating violent video games and found taxing certain varieties of speech differently to be a violation of the First Amendment.

Possibly Biden just got carried away with the jovial spirit of censorship pervading the post-Sandy Hook political climate. Or maybe he was just in an overly-agreeable mood and started making affirmative statements without considering what he was saying.

CBO projection: Budget deficit halved in 2013.

In what I can only call a stunning turn of events, the CBO predicted this year the budget deficit would fall to $642 billion.

This is less than...

In what I can only call a stunning turn of events, the CBO predicted this year the budget deficit would fall to $642 billion.

This is less than half the budget deficit of $1.4 trillion logged in the recession year in 2009, and fulfills an Obama promise of halving the deficit -- something many of our conservative friends here predicted would never happen.

If this prediction is accurate, that would equate to an amazing $750 billion improvement in the deficit in just 4 years. That far surpasses the record of any other president, even Clinton, who inherited a then record $320 billion deficit and left office with a $236 billion surplus 8 years later.

The budget office now predicts a 2013 budget deficit of $642 billion, more than $200 billion below its February estimate. This year's shortfall would register at 4.0 percent of the economy, far less than the 10.1 percent experienced in 2009 when the government ran a record $1.4 trillion deficit.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/100736620

The deficit, which had already been improving over the past three years, is expected to improve better than expected because of an improving economy, higher taxes from the partial repeal of the Bush tax cuts and end of the temporary payroll tax cuts, continued stinginess on the spending side (spending is in the first 7 months of FY2013 lower than FY2012, which would make a remarkable 3 of 4 years with an actual decrease in spending) and better than expected bailout repayments by Fannie/Freddie.

While still too high at $642 billion (IMO), a deficit at that level would put it at 4.0% of GDP; a lower rate than about half the years of the Reagan and Bush1 presidencies.

More importantly, it would be at a level where, with even modest GDP growth (e.g. 4%), the total debt would be stabilized as a percentage of GDP.

After our conservative friends yammering about the deficit over the past 4 years, this should be hailed as good news by them, as well as everyone else concerned about the size of the debt. But we shall see if they can muster that. : )
