...we just didn't go. The soup turned out to be tomato and sweet pointed red pepper soup with celery and the crumble turned out to be peach, orange and apricot.
He was inspired...to ask me to bake bread to go with the soup. I didn't on this occasion, took some frozen baguettes and heated them.
That sounds yummy.
I made up a big pot of spaghetti sauce a few nights ago and froze some of it. I decided I wanted to thaw some of it out for supper, then realized that I had no noodles. I did, hower, have some "Thin Sandwich" buns that I had bought to try out. They are kind of wierd for sandwiches. The texture suggests that they should have been kneaded more. I figured that it was time to experiment. I put a thin layer of the spaghetti sauce on each half of three of them, then added chopped onion, red bell peppers, chopped black olives, chopped pepperoni and a bit of cheese, then placed them in a 400F oven for about 20 minutes.
Great mini-pizzas.
No civilization ever collapsed because the poor had too much to eat.
Just finished a nice baked halibut with raisins and roasted almonds dinner ~ with a decent white table wine.

Hey, it's Friday (penance and stuff)... but I have a nice thick steak ready for tomorrow. lol
It is Friday. We had pizza. We walked down to the front with the dog and went in and ordered. It involved chicken, pineapple and spicy minced beef. The guy put them all on the same pizza. On realising his mistake, he put them all on separate pizzas and gave us the beef/chicken/pineapple for nothing.
