New Feature: Edit your posts within 20 minutes

Now all users can modify their recent posts

An edit button will be visible in corner of your posts.

The edit form is accessible for the first 20 minutes from the original post time. Once you are looking at the form, you will have additional time to enter the changes.

Note: Some users may have viewed the original post, or received it in their digest email, before your changes were entered.

Ettiquette: It is preferred that you mention which part is edited and/or why it was edited.

Please oh please put a limit on the "QUOTE" function!
Certain persons who shall remain nameless but whose initials are JP, as well as a coupla others, create HUGE LONG THREADS because they apparently can't retain the conversation without 'quoting' whole pages of previous postings.

We don't need the WHOLE previous post, just enough to remind us what the post was about - - -- - - - several lines should be sufficient, yes?

Only 20 minutes?

On other boards, I have the ability to create a single message that is a library of links for reference which I can update any darn time I need to add a new link or delete a no-longer functioning one.

Wazzup with just 20 minutes?

On our forum, we want it so that once you put your words down you cannot change them, modify them, take them back, etc. so that the thread reads consistently. It also helps people really put down an opinion they plan to stick by.

Also, on the topic of limiting quoting, there's no easy way to do this, and maybe not much of a hard way to do it either. I agree we don't want increasingly long quotes. Maybe the new mods can nicely ask people to limit it. The only way to really control it is to limit the full post length. Right now is 32K I think.
