Like I said, I locked one of Jake's posts (thought about deleting, but there was already a response) because it was simply a thread in the Race forum which said nothing but basically "The posts on this forum suck."
He posted it again and I deleted it.
Sorry if it hurts anyone's sensibility, but I simply did not think that was any more valid than spam. It was certainly not a political opinion.
I could have moved it to off-topic... but then it would no longer make sense.

don't want to read it for myself and make my own opinion about what (likely loutish) comment jake posted. maybe you could swing by and toss the food in my refrigerator which you also deem unhealthy. while in the area you could destroy the music you feel is inappropriate for me to hear.
it's so easy to recognize those who have never had authority before ... because when they finally obtain some they insist on abusing it.
normally, those who aspire to positions or authority don't deserve it. java, you don't deserve it

So should I also allow people to post golf scores in the Current Events forum? How about people just leaving random posts about "I have X posts so far in this forum!" in the middle of the Religion forum?
Perhaps we can stop being PoliticalForum and start being the IrrelevantTopicForum... But we even have a forum for that purpose!

A post in off-topic saying "The posts in the Race Issues thread suck!" might actually be in the right place... whether flamebait or not.
But I would suspect that in the Racial Issues forum... we should have threads about discussing racial issues rather than literary critique.

Yes, we delete posts on this forum that don't abide by the rules, such as personal attacks, trolling, and blatantly off-topic post (like the one Jake wrote about the Thailand sex industry on the thread about Thailand ignoring drug patent laws that I deleted), but no member can claim they were edited because their political opinions were unacceptable. Mods delete and edit posts according to the rules of the forum, rules you agreed to when you joined.

You could have posted your feelings without getting ugly. Every moderator is responsible for interpreting the rules as they see fit. If you believe a post was edited in error, state your reasons without insults. You're free to disagree with a moderator right here in public or in a PM. Disagreement is not an excuse for personal attacks whether it's about moderating or something else. I once reinstated a thread I had deleted after discussion with the originator of the thread.

Java has stated his reasons already and they make sense.

I remember seeing that thread "first run" and thinking that I left my last message board to avoid that rubbish. It should be moved to a new "MetaTopic" subforum or deleted. Everyone who replied should get some statistical acknowledgement instead of losing the posts. That was one post/thread that I think should be deleted.

I think many are missing a glaring point here and that would be that Jake is clearly labouring under a serious illusion if he thinks that anyone here could care less whether he responds to posts or not.
