Default Just how much freedom of speech is allowed here anyway?

I just noticed a whole topic disappeared.. Can they do this? Is that freedom of speech. The topic was "Iran finished, moving on to Iran.." Anyone else notice that.

The only other problem I've noticed is the profanity censorship. Perhaps one side thinks its not needed, but what about the other side?

Default Iran vs. Iraq

I believe the topic you are looking for is under "personal political beliefs."

Despite what you might think, the Internet doesnt allow freedom of speech. Ive been kicked off other forums because I believed somthing a moderator didnt Someone can get mad and just start deleting if they wanted.

Default Forum Guidelines

This is a new developing forum and we are slowly letting it evolve into a place where the users have some control over things. As the owner of this forum I chose a few moderators at my discretion to help maintain things. The mods have been given some tentative guidelines but some long-term members of this forum will eventually be helping to tweak those guidelines. Once the guidelines are accepted, there will be sticky threads posted with the rules and guidelines for each category, but an emphasis will be made on allowing free speech as long as the posts are on-topic for the category, do not contain profanity, and are not part of a personal attack against another forum user. These will be explained in much more detail eventually.

The rule on profanity has to do partly with our allowing persons 13 years old and up to participate in this forum and partly to create an atmosphere where a wide spectrum of persons and cultures feel welcome. Most political opinions and ideas can be expressed without profanity, but if a legit discussion involves dirty words (e.g. recent Goldberg & Cheney incidents) then that qualifies as news and would be allowed. In those cases though you'll still need to use asterisks (*) or something since we can't selectively turn off the word censor feature per post. I know we will never allow the F and S words, and right now some others are blocked but may be removed after the users discuss things. As the owner of the website, software, domainname, server, and being financially responsible for the bandwidth and assuming some liability for the website content I may always use my discretion per the circumstances.

Your post was moved since it didn't apply very well to Current Events but did apply well to Personal Political Beliefs. Mostly the mods will simply move topics to more appropriate categories, sometimes with shadow links but such as in your case where it really didn't apply to Current Events it was just moved outright. Please always use our search feature first before jumping to conclusions. Rarely are whole threads deleted and never for such a post as yours.

We ask that everyone try to post on topic as much as possible. Also, if you post something that you feel could/should be in a second category at the same time, you can ask me or the mods to create a link in that category. We also ask that users and guests consider reading other categories. We tend to get tons of posts in Current Events and we're trying to keep things a little sorted around here. We maybe will be reorganizing the categories a bit someday with the intent of drawing people to more categories.

I hope this helps explains things a little bit. And thanks for contributing to the discussions here, everyone is welcome.

Over in elections/presidential there is a topic "F the vote", or some such. There was a link removed from a POLITICAL website using nudity and sex to make their point. There was a warning about the site content.

Should that really have been removed?

G.

I removed that link. This forum allows folks as young as 13 to participate. A link to a site that uses nudity and sex to make their political point is not appropriate, hence it's removal.
